We are seeking a dedicated Social Media Director to join our team and take ownership of Artnet’s social media presence, running all channels and acting as Artnet’s voice across platforms. In this role, you will manage all marketing content directed at our 3.6 million social media followers, making sure to both achieve business goals in promoting each of Artnet’s businesses—Auctions, Galleries, Price Database, and News—while also building and engaging our audience through creative programming and an authentic, dynamic embodiment of the Artnet brand.

Collaborating frequently with departments across the company, you will have the opportunity to produce and execute new social media initiatives, strategies, and campaigns. We are looking for a highly talented and resourceful individual with excellent writing skills, a quick wit, brand discipline, a thorough understanding of both the macro and micro art communities on social media, and an expert grasp of the art industry. Being natively digital and expert in using the features of all the social platforms is required.

Our team thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, where professional excellence, initiative, attention to detail, aesthetic understanding, and being digital savvy are a must.

Responsibilities:

Social Media:

  • Shape and execute overall content strategy and manage all Artnet social media accounts, including Instagram (1.1m followers), Twitter (1.9 million followers), Facebook (432,641 followers), and LinkedIn (192,318 followers).
  • Drive Artnet’s follower growth and engagement across platforms according to KPIs.
  • Create innovative, world-class original content for the above platforms, including brand content and content supporting Artnet’s partner brands.
  • Manage a content programming calendar for all social channels.
  • Manage social media spending, including dark posts, and boosted posts.
  • Promote all business divisions via social media through close collaboration with business leads on initiatives from everyday product promotion to major rollouts.
  • Meaningfully engage with our audience through social media, including replying to direct messages and moderating comments in a sustainable but high-impact way.
  • Work closely with the VP of Marketing and Chief Content Officer to ensure that our social media content is consistent with the Artnet brand voice and world-class editorial quality.
  • Work closely with the Brand Partnerships team to make sure goals for sponsored content are met.
  • Stay abreast of current social media trends, including changes to existing platforms.
  • Stay fully informed about art market trends, current gallery shows, upcoming auctions, museum shows, fairs, and other trends and people shaping the industry.

Content Development:

  • In addition to social media management, this position requires input on overall marketing content strategy on a project-basis.
  • Work with both the content and marketing teams to compose modular editorial content that can be used across social media, newsletters, Artnet News, and other channels
  • Assist with managing a content calendar surrounding influencer marketing and editorial ideas

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in social media management with evidence of strong growth performance on social media channels.
  • Proven excellent writing and editing skills.
  • An eye for aesthetic curation.
  • A deep understanding of the fine art market and current trends.
  • Knowledge of scheduling platforms, including HootSuite, Buffer, SproutSocial, Later, and/or other similar management systems.
  • Clear and concise written communication skills.
