WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Brand & Creative Strategy Director leads the planning, development and implementation of First Busey Corporation’s brand, creative, media and marketing strategies and other related brand initiatives. Further, it is the responsibility of this individual to author and manage internal and external content marketing communications and brand initiatives as it relates to non-product information, media placement, digital channel management and other corporate projects, while effectively representing the Busey brand to our Pillars - associates, customers, shareholders and communities.

The objective of this position is to uphold and expand the Busey brand through consistent channel placement, concise brand messaging and in-market sponsorships, guiding brand and marketing activities across mediums while leading a strong, strategic and creative team.

Additional duties:

Media

  • Maintain media outlines by market, working with media partners and buyer, and with Creative Services Team to ensure timely and compliant fulfillment of all media.
  • Partner with media buyer to ensure cohesive media plans by region with routine meetings and communication.
  • Monitor and report on monthly budget projections and spends and plan for future needs.
  • Execute digital campaigns including social channels, influencer marketing, streaming services and evaluate future trends and tools.
  • Digital certifications including search, display and SEO.
  • Manage and maintain monthly content and marketing campaign schedules. Execute and report on ROI.
  • Manage Brand Strategies internal dashboard for line of business and C-Suite reporting.

Brand Management & Strategy

  • Launch new initiatives, internally and externally, to support First Busey Corporation’s brand positioning and engagement.
  • Utilize data, consumer insights and key messaging to tell compelling brand stories consistently and creatively across marketing channels.
  • Research, outline and implement successful marketing communication timelines and plans on a variety of topics to support corporate, bank and subsidiary initiatives.
  • Oversee brand assets and materials, in partnership with Creative Manager and team, for internal and external use.
  • Direct creative direction, in partnership with Creative Services Manager, to ensure growth goals and initiatives are aligned and represent the Busey brand.
  • Manage Busey’s promotional store, ensuring a seamless experience for associates, and upholding the quality standards for merchandise.

Communication

  • Maintain repository of brand resources including copy outlines, radio and commercial scripts as well as in-house video projects.
  • Author, edit, and proofread corporate communications copy, including brand messaging, internal and external publication, corporate news releases, spokesperson remarks and communications and other related projects.
  • Curate new brand messaging, campaigns, asset needs and media management.

Innovation

  • Research trends in innovative strategy, brand health and communication techniques and advise on ways to continuously improve efforts.
  • Assist in the authoring and implementation of innovative media tools including podcasting, radio features, sponsorship engagements and more.
  • Proactively seek communication and brand process improvements; partner with peers to develop best practices, share ideas and ensure consistency and refinement.

Vendor Management

  • Manage current vendor partnerships including merchandising, digital execution, media management and sponsorship partners.
  • Evaluate, research and represent Busey with current and prospective vendors.

In partnership with Brand Strategies leadership, lean-in to support other duties and projects as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Knowledge of:

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Highly organized with project management experience
  • Proven experience with content marketing communication, advertising, digital strategy, public relations, event planning and graphic design

Ability to:

  • Assist in growth plans, supporting the desired strategic objectives of the organization
  • Analyze and recommend communication and brand needs
  • Passionate about storytelling through traditional and digital channels
  • Have a collaborative attitude with strong interdepartmental communication skills
  • Quick-learner who takes direction and feedback well
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and energetic environment
  • Lead and supervise the marketing team, the department goals and scale for a growth-minded organization

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • Requires Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Integrated Marketing Communications or Advertising.
  • Requires 7 or more years of experience in a related field, preferably in a financial services environment.
  • Requires experienced knowledge of Microsoft Office, Smartsheet, Google Ads Search and Display Certification and Adobe Creative Suite.
