Job Summary
DESCRIPTION
Ring is seeking a creative, high judgment and self-motivated Public Relations (PR) professional, with a depth of experience or strong interest in consumer (mainstream media + lifestyle media), to join its U.S. communications team. The ideal candidate has a passion for consumer storytelling, a robust knowledge of the consumer lifestyle, mainstream, and broadcast media landscape, and is willing to dive deep to source, develop campaigns and place high impact stories that demonstrate Ring’s utility to consumer media audiences. They should be well-versed and excited about the tech space, and have a proven track-record of placing stories with consumer lifestyle, mainstream and broadcast media outlets, in addition to having strong knowledge of the reporter landscape.
The successful candidate creates, formalizes and implements strategic consumer campaigns, as well as finds unique ways to maintain momentum with consumer media for ongoing initiatives. They will work fast, write and edit for various audiences and tonality, manage multiple priorities, demonstrate strong judgement, pay close attention to detail and collaborate well with colleagues.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead proactive storytelling with consumer lifestyle, mainstream and broadcast media for Ring
- Create processes, mechanisms, and playbooks to ensure efficiency and scale storytelling
- Cultivate and manage relationships with relevant consumer and lifestyle media reporters
- Build and execute PR plans, including communicating plans internally and securing leadership approvals
- Work closely with marketing, brand strategy, and other internal groups to cohesively approach projects and activities
- Partner closely with social media and marketing teams to create 360 campaigns

They will take an insight or data point and use it to build compelling campaigns that deliver strong results.

Our team’s charter is to drive awareness and shape media perceptions of Ring as a trusted home security brand. We are responsible for protecting the brand and reputation of our products and services, generating positive coverage that demonstrates Ring’s effective and useful whole home security offerings, driving sales and use of Ring’s devices and services, and highlighting Ring’s leadership
in innovation.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, PR, Journalism, or English
- 7+ years of Public Relations experience, specifically focused on consumer lifestyle, broadcast, and mainstream media outlets
- Experience delivering on major campaigns
- Experience working with consumer media contacts across news and broadcast sectors
Preferred Qualifications
- Network of technology and consumer media contacts and a deep understanding of what resonates with them
- Excellent writing skills
- Proven ability to secure feature stories
- Experience interacting with executive leadership
- Experience planning and executing large-scale campaigns
- Thrives in a collaborative environment and is willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done
- PR and communications experience for consumer or retail brands, whether at a PR agency or in-house.
- A knowledge and understanding of evolving PR and consumer trends and how to think big and creatively for proactive campaigns.
- A knowledge and understanding of integrated brand campaigns, including influencer marketing and social media.
