About the Role

The Director of PR & Communications will lead all company communications, public relations and influencer marketing efforts while building lead generation in an evolving, fast-paced environment with multiple company and product launches, as well as influencer programs. The Director of PR & Communications is a guardian of the brand, ensuring integrity across all company initiatives, collaborating with company leadership to influence product launches and strategy, and ideates on all sorts of omni-channel growth. The Director of PR & Communications will be responsible for building a strategic vision for our positioning and all corporate communications, setting the agenda and ensuring strength of our plans to deliver both short- and long-term results.

What You Will Do

Leadership of the PR Function

  • Responsible for all aspects of PR, developing and executing a content-based strategy elevating the brand awareness and brand equity
  • Is a PR guru and proactively continues to develop contacts, skills, and knowledge, maximizing opportunities to gain access to national media (through conferences and events / connections etc.)
  • Forges strong media relationships and is a natural storyteller (PR efforts are content-driven and highly responsive to the market)
  • Works closely with the field sales team to implement marketing programming in the field and lead the inbound feedback loop
  • Contributes to new product innovation, working cross-functionally with Digital Marketing and Sales to develop new product and service opportunities
  • Includes a wide range of PR strategies into their communications plans, including thought leadership development, social media, advertising, sponsorships, collaborations and KOLs & Influencer relations
  • Manages and works collaboratively with our PR agency(ies), holding WIP updates and analyzing of their performance against set KPIs
  • Provides the PR agency with all current press kits and assets to ensure they have a constant stream of content and stories to pitch to media
  • Ideates and support all in-person and virtual events

Development & Leadership of Key Influencer Programs

  • Develops and maintains influencer and/or micro-influencer programs and relationships appropriately for companies
  • Drives growth via build out and support of our in-house micro/influencer network

Guardian of the Brand & Brand Communications

  • Drives cohesive and consistent messaging and content across all brand communications and programs supported by field and consumer insights
  • Assists with creation of executive / employee or other investor communications
  • Works with the marketing team to develop integrated PR, communications and marketing plans that include a strategic mix of paid, earned, and owned efforts
  • Handles all day-to-day press activities, seasonal and one-off promotional campaigns and supports the marketing and sales teams to generate coverage of all company activities

Key Leader within the Marketing Team

  • Assists in building a future Advisory Board of Physician and clinical thought leaders
  • Drives accountability for managed marketing spend and project budgets
  • Manages future direct reports, third-party vendors and contractors
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining professional networks and participating in professional organizations

What you bring to the table

  • An effective communicator and storyteller who can work with cross-functional teams, manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, and produce under tight deadlines
  • Both tactically competent (capable of “rolling up your sleeves”) and strategically adept with technical writing capabilities and the ability to deliver clear, concise, and compelling benefits for the right audience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or Liberal Arts
  • A minimum of 5 years of PR experience (agency or in-house)
  • Previous PR experience in health & wellness, lifestyle or DTC preferred
  • Experience in breakthrough campaigns or a strategic understanding of how to break from the norm and make a brand stand out
  • Ability to integrate marketing and sales goals to develop press and communication strategies across multiple channels
  • Experience creating content driven PR campaigns that generate measurable ROI
  • Must have established contacts and connections with editors and various media/press outlets
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a highly visible fast-paced environment, managing multiple conflicting priorities while relentlessly focused on “voice of the customer” with a strong brand sensibility
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with difficult customer situations with tact, empathy, and professionalism
  • Possess high EQ and effective at influencing centrally within an organization that has often operated de-centrally with a variety of stakeholders, including physicians
  • Tech-savvy, results-driven and highly analytical with knowledge of metrics and ROI analysis
  • Passionate around d2c customer discovery, building brand voice for start-ups and legacy brands alike, launching products in the performance healthcare and digital health space
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to develop strong partnerships with influencers, athletes and celebrities
  • Knowledgeable in operational execution from consulting, investments or operating capacity
  • Ethical and trustworthy
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate in English, both verbally and in writing including presentation and speaking skills and who always takes context and audience into account
