The marketing team advances Verto's mission by making travel and experiential education a more commonly considered option for students, families, and educators. The team is responsible for attracting high-quality candidates for Verto experiences and communicating promotional, logistical and confidence-building information with students throughout their lifecycle. Our scope of work spans, whether directly or indirectly, every channel and platform that a student, family member or educator might see. We work intimately with all internal departments to support business needs and steward the brand and the student experience.

We are looking for a dynamic marketing leader that will bring strategy and data-driven focus to our Brand and Content Marketing efforts. With a focus on advertising effectiveness, clarity of messaging, and reputation building - the ideal candidate will help establish a credible brand that drives top-of-mind awareness and conversion. The Director will report directly to the VP of Marketing and be an integral part of Verto's leadership team.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, activate and manage brand visuals and positioning that resonate with students and partner higher ed institutions
  • Define succinct and impactful elevator pitch for each of Verto's potential audiences
  • Define and maintain a content strategy including development and distribution of content for the full customer journey, and a marketing editorial calendar focused on supporting key periods in the student and partner journeys
  • Define and execute the strategy of all owned and earned media efforts including SEO, social media, website conversion, PR, influencer marketing, and reputation management
  • Manage and grow a team of 2-4 high-functioning marketing professionals that will execute owned and earned media initiatives, as well as creative production
  • Partner with Acquisition and Lifecycle Marketing to provide and optimize creative that performs
  • Drive persona development and define personalized prioritization of messaging for each
  • Provide support and oversight of all public-facing messaging across the organization in partnership with Enrollment, Programming and Operations, Higher Ed Student Success, to name a few
  • Must be able to work remotely full-time, this is a remote position.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Ability to work remote, and travel as-needed (this is a remote position)
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in marketing with 3+ years of focus on high-performance content strategy
  • 3+ years of managing marketing professionals
  • Advanced knowledge of on-page and off-page SEO best practices
  • Hands-on experience with PR and influencer marketing
  • Ability to let the facts/numbers do the talking
  • Must have a collaborative personable approach, and the ability to work well across departments for the greater good of the mission
  • Must have the ability to understand the high-level business and anticipate organizational implications
  • Strong intellectual horsepower with analytical skills plus creativity to find innovative solutions to obstacles
  • A team builder, team player, and leader who creates loyalty and trust
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to articulate concepts in a clear, structured, and succinct manner.
  • Results-driven with bias for action, commitment to excellence, and a willingness to fail forward
  • Advanced knowledge of marketing platforms and analytics tools
  • Strong computer skills, including Google suite and Microsoft suites, to include Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.

However, even if you don't meet 100% of the above qualifications, you should still seriously consider applying. Studies show that you can still be considered for a role if you meet just 50% of the role's requirements.

Compensation includes:
