PR Specialist - Brand

Reporting to the Senior PR Manager, the Public Relations Specialist - Brand is responsible for identifying, capturing and delivering on PR initiatives and earn coverage through brand partnerships plus media and influencer relations with a brand and product focus. You lead with a great attitude, bring creativity and a fresh perspective to the Lush with team spirit and a can-do attitude to undertake the below responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Senior PR manager, and work with PR specialist peers in the creation and execution of seasonal and on-going PR strategies for both Canada and the US that support company and brand department objectives to generate earned coverage to drive brand discovery and purchase.
- Create and execute PR activations for product and brand moments to elevate awareness, brand love and assigned metrics/goals..
- Track and report on project and campaign results as assigned.
- Set clear and measurable objectives for PR initiatives and campaigns.
- Seek creative ways to amplify and extend brand and product reach through earned media and influencer coverage.
- Contribute to the department’s editorial calendar including identifying story opportunities to pitch to media and influencers around the brand, campaigns and products.
- Develop media and influencers lists, press releases, opinion pieces and other related materials.
- Prep spokespeople for interviews such as reporter/outlet bio, anticipated questions and key messages.
- Leverage existing media and influencer relationships and cultivate new relationships locally, regionally and nationally in Canada and the US.
- Seek out and develop awards submission opportunities that honour Lush brand values, products, campaigns, workplace and its people.
- Stay in close contact with colleagues in marketing and other disciplines to uncover opportunities for external amplification.
- Participate in regular updates and round-table meetings with colleagues.
- Manage assigned PR budget including monthly updates with Senior PR Manager.
- Perform other duties as required/assigned by the Senior PR Manager.
Qualifications
Required:
- 3+ years of proven experience in Public Relations
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Advertising and/or Marketing or equivalent work experience
- Outstanding track record of cultivating successful relationships with traditional and digital media
- Proven media list development and story pitching to deliver high quality media coverage and influencer engagement
- Successful track record of PR pitches or campaigns that embrace corporate brand messaging with demonstrated ability to align and position to reach and engage target audiences
- Natural storyteller with genuine interest in Lush, its values and ethics and its people
- Strong time management skills and attention to detail while simultaneously managing multiple projects
- Demonstrated comfort level with public speaking and presenting
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internally and externally
Preferred:
- Agency experience strongly preferred
- Corporate communications for a consumer product or consumer PR agency experience preferred as well as experience in the beauty industry
- Strong preference for this role to be based US based in a key Lush market - New York, Boston, LA, San Francisco
