Social Snowball’s app has been featured and recognized as a top affiliate marketing tool for Shopify in countless articles and blogs including 1-800-D2C, Influencer marketing hub, and peertopeer.
Social Snowball has partnered/integrated with some of the top names in the Shopify space, including Klaviyo, Postscript, Okendo, Carthook, and SMSbump.
Stores that install Social Snowball have seen a 7%+ increase in GMV, where the industry standard for a customer focused referral program is < 1%.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Thanks to significant growth over the past year, Social Snowball is now hiring a motivated, creative, startup-minded Chief Technology Officer with an obsession for improving ecommerce. In this role, you will do everything from building and shipping product to managing engineers and enforcing best practices. This role works closely with the Product, Customer Success, Partnerships, and Sales teams.
Key deliverables will include the following:
1. Within 30 days of being hired, (a) come up to speed with the Social Snowball products and tech stack, and (b) demonstrate a thorough understanding of the company’s financial and non-financial goals for the next 24 months, and what needs to be built in order to achieve them.
2. Within 30 days of being hired, and in consultation with the CEO, define/evolve and implement the technology vision, strategies, and growth plans for the company.
3. Within 60 days of being hired, design and implement a best-in-class product roadmap and project backlog process.
4. In consultation with the CEO, hire, train, manage and retain a team of 3-5 A Player developers in the first 12-36 months of being hired.
5. In consultation with the CEO, identify key product features to be launched in the next 12 months. Build and ship MVPs of new product features multiple times per month, and hit key milestones and deadlines within scope and budget consistently.
6. In consultation with the Customer Success Team, improve and iterate on existing features based on customer feedback. Communicate with the Customer Success team frequently to ensure reported bugs are documented and fixed in a timely manner.
7. Build and launch marketing app integrations on an as needed basis.
8. Communicate with the wider Social Snowball team weekly to discuss product vision and prioritize the building of new product features and fixing bugs in a timely manner. Improve Social Snowball’s product(s) by soliciting and listening to ideas from the wider team, advocating for innovative ideas, and finding paths to their implementation
9. Define and implement SaaS product development best practices and ensure they are being followed by the wider Social Snowball team within 30 days of being hired.
10. Provide technical support to enterprise clients through Slack on an ongoing basis.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred. Exceptional candidates without a degree but with requisite experience are encouraged to apply.
2. 5+ years of experience with start-ups.
3. 5+ years of experience in the Shopify ecosystem.
4. 5+ years of experience working with (and, ideally, managing) a team at a SaaS company.
5. 5+ years of experience in Laravel, utilizing Laravel vapor, and writing Laravel unit and feature tests preferred.
6. 3+ of experience in CI/CD pipelines (it would be a huge plus if you have CircleCI knowledge).
7. 3+ of experience in using git + knowledge of gitflow development practice preferred.
8. Experience in Javascript would be a bonus.
9. Ability to maintain North American time zone hours.
10. Fluent or advanced level English.
WHAT WE OFFER
1. 7-10% equity in the company.
2. Base salary of US$70,000 to $90,000 depending on experience. Salary increases are guaranteed as the company grows and hits revenue milestones.
3. Fully remote working (subject only to the ability to maintain North American time zone hours).
