The marketing team at Del Rey is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Associate Marketing Manager. Reporting to the assistant marketing director, this position provides an opportunity to immerse yourself in a creative and hands-on department renowned by readers as the go-to publisher for genre fiction across the fantasy, science fiction, and horror landscape. Del Rey is proud to publish a long list of bestselling authors, including George R. R. Martin, Silvia Moreno-Garcia, Pierce Brown, Naomi Novik, Max Brooks, and Josh Malerman—as well as newly established talents like Katherine Arden, Chuck Wendig, Heather Walter, Simon Jimenez, and Micaiah Johnson.

The Associate Marketing Manager will assist on title-specific campaigns, including digital outreach, influencer marketing, partnerships, advertising, and overall creative strategy. In addition to providing administrative support, the Associate Marketing Manager will also manage and lead innovative marketing campaigns for their own list of titles to ensure that the largest possible readership is connected to their next read.

The Role:

  • Supports the Del Rey assistant marketing director with specific title campaigns and projects
  • Works with the assistant marketing director to create and lead innovative title-marketing campaigns based on market data and consumer insights for upcoming publications
  • Collaborates with the Del Rey team to strategically plan the Del Rey presence at consumer conventions, including developing marketing activations
  • Manages multiple marketing projects with varying timelines while simultaneously building relationships with multiple stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Work closely across departments with editorial, publicity, sales, and creative services (including social media, email marketing, design, copy, media buyers)
  • Identifies available audiences for each book and ways to reach them through advertising, promotion, and social media while also keeping up to date on new platforms and marketing methods

The Essentials:

  • 2-3 years of experience in book promotion or related media such as magazines, music, film/TV
  • A passion for: reading, fandom, initiative, innovation, collaboration, and curiosity
  • Interest in working on a wide variety of science fiction, fantasy, and horror titles
  • Ability to speak and communicate effectively with major authors and stakeholders
  • Able to apply organizational methods and strategies to meet deadlines and manage multiple active projects at once in a fast-paced and details-focused environment
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat Pro, and html skills, or an avid interest in learning these skills and languages
  • Proficiency as well as strong interest in using social media platforms as a marketing tool
  • Ability to work independently in a proactive manner and collaborate with the team when needed
  • Proficiency in creative problem solving and decision making
  • A goal-oriented team player who can cultivate a productive working relationship
