We are looking for a Communications Manager to manage communications work for new product offerings, globally, with a focus on activating in North America. This person must have their finger on-the-pulse of the music industry - they’re fully immersed in artist trends, culture and events and understand ways to leverage these as part of our communications strategy. They must be a strong team player and self-starter with a predisposition for speed. They will partner closely with communications colleagues across the business on strategies and plans, and should be familiar with global Spotify business priorities, how they ladder up to company objectives, and how to create understanding and connectivity with the rest of the company. You are expected to have strong business acumen, writing, and project management skills, as well as effective engagement with stakeholders across the company. Above all, your work will impact the way the world understands and learns about Spotify’s global campaigns and consumer news.

What You'll Do

  • Responsible for building strategic PR plans across consumer media and industry press for new product launches
  • Proactively identify opportunities to tell the Spotify story on owned and earned external channels
  • Build ground-up, PR-driven campaigns that increase brand awareness through earned media and collaborate with Consumer, Owned and Influencer communications colleagues to deliver plans across channels
  • Serve as a trend and music expert to drive cultural relevance for the brand and foster authentic brand love
  • Be immersed in emerging trends in order to develop creative and compelling ideas that help keep Spotify on the cutting edge of public conversation and inspire users
  • Identify new ways to storytell in the digital space, whether that’s through influencers, social channels or emerging platforms
  • Drive innovation by continually pushing the boundaries of our communications programs into new and relevant areas
  • Help to manage projects with multiple internal stakeholders and external agency partners
  • Create messaging for Spotify’s key spokespeople and talent for key product announcements
  • Stay abreast of news in the music, entertainment, and event space
  • Strategically evaluate communications opportunities, understanding risks and benefits to the brand

Who You Are

  • 7-10 years of relevant Communications experience in consumer PR, event PR, music industry PR - must have agency experience
  • Team player who thinks and acts globally, even when directly dealing with local challenges
  • A deep love of music, events and pop-culture
  • Experience in influencer and emerging social networks/trends
  • Excellent written and presentation communication skills
  • Creative and motivated self-starter with a hands-on attitude
  • Strong media relations and communications skills
  • Ability to multitask and work in a hectic and extremely fast-moving industry and environment
  • Collaborative and creative individual who enjoys partnering closely across teams and departments to create and distribute the most impactful communications possible
  • Strong writer, strategic thinker, and resourceful problem-solver
  • Ability to balance short- and long-term priorities

Where You'll Be

  • We are a distributed workforce enabling our band members to find a work mode that is best for them!
  • Where in the world? This role is based in New York, NY, and we'll expect you to be based within commutable distance of our NYC office.
  • Working hours? We operate within the Eastern Standard time zone for collaboration.
