Overview

Whirlpool Corporation is seeking a Social Media Strategist, Influencer who will be an integral part of an exciting and first-of-its-kind new division: Project X. Tasked with innovating the consumer experience and building the future of marketing at Whirlpool, Project X is the next generation of in-house advertising, storytelling, and experience. With deep support from executive leadership, armed with the latest digital marketing tools, and award-winning creative and experienced talent, our goal is nothing short of super-charging Whirlpool Corporation through investing in creativity and improving consumers’ lives inside millions of homes.

Leading the work for iconic brands like Jennair, KitchenAid, Whirlpool, Maytag, Amana, and more, this highly visible, business-critical division will be heavily invested in increasing the total output of campaigns, content, analytics, design, experiences, digital tools, and service innovations. At the edge of the Chicago Riverwalk, Project X is located in the historic Reid Murdoch Building.

Summary

In this role, you will be equal parts social strategist and influencer strategist. Working within a growing world-class creative and experience strategy team: social, creative, growth, experience, connections, content, and media teams, in addition to our cross-agency PR agencies, you will help define the who and how we leverage influencers and content creators as part of our social content strategies for Whirlpool North America brands, beginning with the KitchenAid brand. You will be responsible for translating brand and media strategies through the lens of influence, defining the social creative strategy which will lead to engaging, breakthrough creative.

Responsibilies

  • Develop social and influencer strategies and partner with the community management team for Whirlpool’s brands.
  • Write the social and influencer creative strategy to inspire world-class, engaging, and impactful creative work
  • Support cross-agency PR partners in brief creations for content partners.
  • Be the champion of our audience: ensure that the editorial agenda, both from owned and creator content, serves both company and audience needs
  • Build exposure, both on-platform and off, by leveraging relationships with cross-functional teams to further the reach and fame of our content
  • Analysis of cultural, community, media, and market trends to inform strategic and creative development for content
  • Be a cross-functional teammate who engages, listens, and collaborates with internal teams on Whirlpool’s overall marketing strategy.
  • Develop strong working relationships with studios, talent, and affiliate partners, acting as a central hub for social, influencer, and content creator-related questions and issues.
  • Be an inspiring peer and help develop out-of-the-box and first-to-market experiences, activations, and content that will drive social conversations and increase brand love.
  • Further define the role of creators within the organic and paid social content strategy to cultivate deeper conversation and earned media.
  • Analyze key performance metrics regularly, making vital recommendations for improvement.

Preferred Skills And Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • ~5+ years of experience in Social Media and Influencer Strategy
  • Experience with multicultural US audiences
  • Experience working with consumer-facing global brands
  • Experience building, inspiring, and leading teams and managing individual career growth
  • Experience with multi-channel communications planning, using data to identify insights and build strategies for social content
  • Experience developing and executing creative, innovative, integrated social, influencer, and content marketing
  • Experience presenting to leadership and promoting the importance of the social and influencer marketing discipline
  • A motivated strategist ready to take ownership of projects, present to teams, and eventually mentor and grow junior talent
  • Comprehensive and deep understanding of social platforms and content creators and the role they play within the broader strategy team
  • Driven by a passion for evolving technologies
  • Awarded social and influencer centric campaign case studies
  • Retail and Direct to Consumer brand experience
