The Social Media Coordinator is a full-time, non-exempt position responsible for coordinating the day-to-day execution across Boston Ballet’s social media channels. Reporting to the Director of Media and Communications and in collaboration with the digital content and creative design team, this role will create and share compelling, platform-relevant content with the goal of promoting the Ballet’s programs, engaging the organization’s online community, and driving positive brand perception. The ideal candidate will be social media savvy with a passion for creative storytelling and a keen eye for design.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Social Media
- Run organic social media implementation across all channels (currently Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube) with the goal of maximizing reach and engagement
- Report on social media analytics to track performance and optimize strategy
- Innovate and implement ways to stay ahead of trends and best practices in social media, including new channels, platforms, content formats, design, and strategy
- Serve as advisor to other departments and Boston Ballet School for social media needs in order to present a unified strategy and cohesive institutional messaging
Social Listening & Monitoring
- Serve as the customer-facing representative of the Ballet on social media to foster an active and engaged online community
- Develop and implement strategies to amplify positive feedback and user-generated content and minimize the impact of negative responses on social media
- Work with Director of Media and Communications on confidential institutional information and announcements
- Monitor all accounts outside of work hours for comments, patron questions, and spam
Digital Content
- Collaborate with digital content team on creative, messaging, and strategy across marketing initiatives
- Steward the creation of content required for all social marketing efforts including effective copywriting and engaging creative tailored to each platform
- Develop internal sources for storytelling and collaborate with staff across the Ballet (including marketing, artistic, school, development, and community programs) to raise awareness about the organization and its programming
- Support image approval process of the artistic staff, dancers, and choreographers and the organization of photo library, digital asset management (DAM), and SmugMug
Media & Influencer Relations
- Manage influencer strategy by identifying and cultivating key influencers in online community to gain wider reach and engagement
- Support ideation and collaboration with internal and external partners on social media, including cross-departmental teams, dancers, and community leaders
- Coordinate and staff influencer and blogger activation events (dress rehearsals, opening/press nights, in-studio and in-theatre appearances and interviews) with media relations team
- Assist with pitches, press clippings, and calendar listings as needed
- Assist with trafficking digital and traditional advertising collateral as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience
· In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat, TikTok, etc.)
· Given the highly public and sometimes confidential nature of this work, must have superior ability to represent the Ballet with professionalism, discretion, and diplomacy
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills; creative and conversational writer who is also a diligent proofreader
· A strong visual eye; knowledge of Photoshop and some photography/video capture skills a plus
· Proven track record of strong organizational and project management skills in a fast-paced environment
· Interest in and working knowledge of ballet a plus
· Weekends and evenings as needed (monitoring and some in-person when Company is in theater or on tour)
