PT role - Director of Social Media | VP Marketing
Ecodeo seeks a Marketing | social media "whippersnapper".
We are seeking a Director, of Social Media to join our team. This role reports to the Founder, who at this young stage, is still the Dir of Marketing and will be responsible for leading the strategy and vision for content across all platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Pinterest, Youtube, etc). (except not on Founder's feeds) . While leading strategy for our social channels, this role will build content creation across our platforms. Ideally, you’re excited and are an expert at juggling multiple projects and narrative threads at once.
This role is intended for someone who is fired up about sustainability, eco-products, renewables, cleantech, food, racial, social justice, SDGS, ESGs, natural products, Green policy, etc., eager to create content about how we can (and will) do better. We are looking for a rockstar, whipsmart, whippersnapper communicator, with a distinct editorial vision, keen eye for detail, and a finger on the pulse of industry trends. This person should be data-driven and have a clear perspective on how to use data to inform editorial strategy.
Along with an editorial eye and finger on the pulse, the candidate must have a proven history of growing social audiences & developing original content. This role will work closely with Creative, Editorial, Sustainability, Advocacy, and sometimes sales team members to further differentiate our social presence and create an ongoing content calendar that supports our brand strategy.
THE OPPORTUNITY:
- Work on content about sustainable solutions, green lifestyles, SDGs, ESGs, nature science, nature, biomimicry, eco-innovation, and ecosystem and intersectional storytelling that promotes climate solutions, mostly in a video space.
- This is an opportunity to make complex and simple storytelling and messaging into simple, fun, playful, accessible, engaging, and beautiful, very short-form social video and content that helps grow large audiences.
- Take our brand and be a brand ambassador on our feeds on TikTok, Reels, FB, Tw, LI, and others
- Director of Marketing tendencies, work closely with the founder on messaging which shifts.
- Grow a serious following behind climate forward content for our media brand.
- Grow our engagement 10x by end of the year
- Play with terabytes of footage just waiting for you to play with - a ton of creative opportunities.
- Join a cool, seasoned team of filmmakers, artists, media pros from around the country.
- Most work is evergreen, for the brand but, also produces some social content for some of our clients for more hours.

- Potential to grow into more hours toward more of a full-time position with equity share and potential to grow into Director of Marketing.
IS THIS YOU?:
- A talented social media influencer type who is a social producer | creator who can also adeptly and quickly edit micro-short videos.
- Inherently collaborative, team player.. but independent. Willing to collaborate with founder, producers, biz development, and other teams as needed.
- A talented mini-storyteller and an eco-interested creative/ thinker and/or content creator who understands the complex social media ecosystems, the ever-changing visual languages of channels like Reels and TikTok4good, and have some understanding of how to tame, trick or and feed the beast (aka. their algorithms).
- One who might naturally geek out on what’s next in social or be an early adopter of whatever the next feed is. You might even be tinkering around in Meta w video.
- Actually loves social, thinks it’s fun and has a desire to dominate social with eco-focused content that is powerful!
- Would genuinely enjoy helping create fun, real, authentic messaging, influencer strategies, responsiveness, and managing social posts and community on social media.
- The ideal candidate is part artist, part activist, part business, but a social media professional, with marketing chops
- Can follow some climate news, aggregated feeds we organize and interact with eco brands and sustainability trends across social media feeds
- Not trying to grow my own venture (nor a grad student with time to do this job at 3 am but rather seek a PT opportunity to grow a media brand that's never invested in its own marketing to 100x
- This role will focus on both marketing campaigns, narratives, and mostly internal and evergreen content on Instagram, InstaReels, and TikTok, FB, LI as well as additional social channel feeds as they arise
Must have:
- A positive mindset and be a problem solver.
- An in-control ego.
- Branding training, experience, understanding basics, and consistency.
- Be a team player and a good communicator
- Fluency with TikTok, familiar with the latest creator tools and techniques.
- Experience in producing social media video content for TikTok and Instagram.
- Experience in growing a TikTok or reels account to at least 50,000 followers.
- Experienced in creating or contributing to multiple videos that went viral (over 50K-100k+views each).
- Understands data as it relates to user engagement
- Project management capability
- Professional communication and writing skills. Never Typos. Ever.
- Hashtag Ninja Skillz, algorithm understandings on these feeds (such as they are)
- Passion for communications, education, film, video, media entertainment, climate.
- Experience in building personal or branded narratives into thumb-stopping, viral video content, or highly-trafficked content with high views and engagement. \
- A strong grasp and ninja agility with software like Adobe Suite and Adobe Premiere Social management software, GSuite, Slack, Asana
- Be able to edit, color correct, rock graphics, make it fun, playful, and knows what works, and really wants to grow a following and is seeking a mission-aligned media company to do that with.
- An ability to take feedback and direction, the brand comes first
- Willing to do what clients need, not what you think they need.
- An ability to hold oneself accountable, and stay on schedule.
- Be sustainability-versed, know what ESGs, SDGs, and BCorps are.
- Willing to work closely with the founder to develop the brand's big story arcs and threads.
- Must have a track record and social accounts you managed before where you grew their influence tremendously.
WORKING CONDITIONS & FINANCIAL
- This is a freelance contracted 1099 position for a 6-month period of time with evaluation for extension of hours and rate at that point.
- We can offer a base of $40/ hour or $1280-$1500 month / 32 hours a month min / 8 hours a week. (at least)

- There are anywhere from 5-15 additional hours for client deliverables some months.
- Hours can be grouped for efficiency if things are programmed out ahead and signed off, but some weekly engagement and feed maintenance will be required.
- Any US-based location as long as you have fast and reliable strong internet.
- Must be Us-based for tax reasons or have a US bank account and file taxes.
