The Random House Publishing Group is seeking an experienced, creative, and enthusiastic marketer to join the Ten Speed Press and Clarkson Potter imprints. This title-marketing position reporting to the Assistant Director of Marketing will lead innovative consumer-facing campaigns, as well as partner on overall group strategies, to bring the imprints’ publications to the largest possible readership. This is an exciting opportunity to work across these two renowned non-fiction lists.
The Associate Marketing Manager will be hands-on in the strategy as well as the creation and execution of customized campaigns for a rich assortment of authors shaping the cultural and literary conversation; help set and meet ambitious sales goals; and drive discovery and engagement, working closely with Publishing, Editorial, Publicity, Sales, Analytics, as well as Audience Development; Copy, Design and Media Buying; and as part of the larger Random House Integrated Marketing Team.
The Role:
- Creates and leads innovative title-marketing campaigns based on market data and consumer trends for upcoming publications, across a roster of major non-fiction titles, with a specific focus on, but not limited to, food & drink publishing
- Collaborates closely with authors and their larger teams to drive strategy and maximize campaign effectiveness (including development of digital content, timelines and integration across author’s social media/related platforms)
- Devises influencer marketing campaigns, custom audiences, and organizational and brand cross-promotions to activate word of mouth and digital activations that drive sales
- Works with Director of Marketing to effectively share goals for each title, with Publishing, Publicity, Sales, and the larger Integrated Marketing team
- Manages title-marketing strategies, advertising campaigns, analytics, and budgets in order to maximize revenue and profitability
- Establishes relationships with third party partners and related media platforms for partnership opportunities, as well as larger group initiatives
- Works closely with the copy, design, and media buying teams on all creative assets for a campaign
The Essentials:
- A strong history in book promotion or related media (magazines, music, film, etc)
- Experience with food & drink culture and an understanding of the influencers, brands, and partners (not necessarily limited to publishing)
- An experienced background with multi-cultural marketing a plus
- Strategic and creative thinker with the ability to demonstrate, with examples, the execution of successful marketing campaigns from strategy through end-product
- Superb communication skills with talent to speak fluently and effectively with top authors and key stakeholders
- Collaborative, curious reader across areas, detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage a busy inbox with timely follow-up skills
- Ability to set and meet goals under an established budget
- Highly Proficient with MS Office suite and an ability to learn new applications
