... the Role

Reporting to the SVP, Development and Communications, the Director of Marketing & Communications will develop and execute an annual marketing plan to support key organizational strategies, generate brand awareness, drive revenue and position CureSearch as an innovative leader in the pediatric cancer space. As a hands-on team lead, the director will create and execute marketing initiatives that drive fundraising event recruitment, stakeholder meeting participation and fundraising appeals. The director will build out the marketing team function and collaborate with other team members on shared initiatives and champion our culture, mission and core values.

Gross Annualized Base: $80,000 to 90,000

Key responsibilities will include:

Generating CureSearch Awareness

  • Having a deep understanding of our unique value proposition, funding strategy, impact and audience and using this knowledge to develop comprehensive digital and offline marketing strategies and implementing effective processes and practices to drive results. This includes email, content, influencer marketing, and SEO, SEM and SMM strategies.
  • Partnering with and leveraging the Board of Directors and related Marketing Committee to build brand awareness that generates new donors, volunteers and partners.

Driving Fundraising Efforts

  • Understanding our overall fundraising goals and developing innovative marketing strategies to support these efforts
  • Leading the development and execution of comprehensive multi-channel marketing campaigns that drive event participation in signature fundraising events including Ultimate Hike and CureSearch Walk
  • Analyzing marketing metrics and impact and creating pitch template to demonstrate potential reach and brand elevation for corporate brands

Planning & Administration

  • Effectively managing and guiding the Marketing & Communications Team to meet their position/professional objectives in a positive, productive and collaborative environment and to act as a partner across the organization
  • Creating, documenting and continually improving on team processes, procedures and measurement tools to achieve optimal results
  • Ensuring that all marketing project timelines, milestones and metrics are created and managed effectively
  • In partnerships with the SVP, developing and managing the annual marketing budget and monitoring monthly progress in hitting goals
  • Identifying specialized marketing & communications contract support needs; vetting, hiring and managing contractors

Requirements

  • 7+ years of related professional experience with demonstrated progressive advancement, including at least 3 years in the nonprofit sector (healthcare nonprofit strongly preferred)
  • Successful track record in developing marketing strategies tied to revenue responsibility
  • Exceptional verbal, writing, and editing skills
  • Experience leading and working with lean marketing teams
  • Demonstrated knowledge in SEO, SEM, SMM, email, content and influencer marketing
  • Basic HTML skills
  • Blackbaud TeamRaiser/Luminate Online experience strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with non profit Google Ad grant program
  • Disciplined planner, who knows to chart the proper course first, then produces high quality plans that enable successful outcomes
  • Capable of setting clear priorities and nimble enough to adjust as new opportunities arise
  • Possesses desire and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • High emotional IQ and interpersonal skills due to the collaborative nature of this position
