SOMOS Foods is a new food brand re-envisioning Mexican cuisine in the US with a focus on authenticity, convenience, and better-for-you ingredients. KIND Snacks founder and Mexico City native, Daniel Lubetzky, has joined forces with two other KIND alumni to launch this new venture. They’re a group of three friends who grew up in Mexico eating chilaquiles, cooking tacos, and loving their mothers’ home cooking. When they came to the United States, they enjoyed meeting up with friends at great Mexican restaurants but were disappointed with the options available for creating authentic Mexican meals at home. Together, with their Mexican heritage and years of experience in the food, they'll deliver ready-to-eat foods that honor Mexico’s rich culinary traditions and celebrate the cultural vitality of modern Mexico.
The SOMOS brand is built on 3 values:
- Authenticity: All SOMOS products are made in Mexico using Mexican recipes and ingredients. We also leverage traditional Mexican cooking methods such as stone ground nixtamalization for the corn in our Unusually Thick & Crunchy Tortilla Chips and a fire roasting “tatemado” process for our salsas.
- Convenience: All of our entrees, rice, and beans come in 90 second heat-and-eat pouches so you can quickly cook dinner for four in under 10 minutes. We do all of the hard work for you like slow cooking the tinga and consistently stirring the beans so you can spend more time eating and less time cooking and cleaning. We even have a name for it in Mexico – “sobremesa” – which is the time you spend around the table with your loved ones after a hearty meal.
- Better for you: We want to break the stereotype that Mexican food is heavy, cheesy or full of empty calories so all of our recipes are gluten free, Non-GMO and plant-based. We also strive to only use ingredients that you would find in your pantry in order to deliver a healthy balance of taste and nutrition.
What you’ll do:
Reporting to the Head of Marketing and the VP of Digital & E-Commerce, you will be responsible for driving best-in-class social experiences and community engagement across current, new, and emerging social platforms. This position will play a pivotal role in growing our consumer base and driving overall brand awareness as we continue to scale across retail and ecommerce.
You will lead and build a holistic social strategy around content creation, community engagement, sponsored and branded social integrations, and influencer management. You will work closely with the internal creative team and our agency partners to ensure we produce on-brand content and meet our brand goals.
Here’s how you’ll do it:
- Develop overall social and community strategy for building long-term brand awareness and engagement
- Build platform-specific tactical plans to ensure our brand leverages the strengths and audiences of each platform
- Create a comprehensive content calendar that aligns to key brand moments and overall marketing strategy
- Manage social media agency and build the SOMOS social team to ensure content and community goals are being met
- Develop both paid and organic influencer strategies with a focus on long-term relationships and partnerships
- Build and leverage a diverse network of content creators in both the US and Mexico
- Foster engagement and brand growth through on-trend and irreverent content and community interactions
- Create content at the speed of culture to complement pre-planned content
- Use analytics and social listening tools to draw insights on effective content and deploy a test-and-learn strategy for content creation
- Constantly stay on top of the latest platform and content trends and provide periodic reporting to leadership
You are

- Passionate about social media and food (and tacos!)
You have
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, journalism, media or related.
- 5-8 years of content marketing, social media, advertising experience, and/or influencer management.
- In-depth knowledge of content marketing and dominant/emerging social media platforms and their respective communities.
- Experience managing external influencer and marketing agencies.
- Basic content creation skills (Photoshop, iMovie, in-platform tools).
- Strong organizational skills and experience leveraging planning tools (Trello, Notion, Monday, etc)
