We are decoding the microbiome of the most fit people in the world and translating their metagenomic information into next-generation probiotics to improve human health & performance.
We are bringing our microbiome innovations to market via DTC, Amazon, and online retail, accelerating accessibility to cutting-edge products. We recently launched Nella, a daily capsule made of our proprietary athlete-derived Lactobacillus strains, for gut health applications. Nella is the world’s first performance probiotic and designed to help anyone pursuing a healthy and active lifestyle to a new frontier of personal best through better digestion, recovery, sleep, and energy. In the next few months, we’ll be preparing to launch our second product, Veillonella, a lactic acid eating probiotic that promotes endurance.
As a fast-growing and agile organization, we are looking to bring in an E-Commerce Director with a bias for action who will take initiative to push our business to the next level.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for a passionate E-commerce performance marketer and leader with proven experience driving sales via Amazon, online retail and DTC.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and a “doer” willing to roll up their sleeves to achieve BOTH topline revenue and ROAS goals. The ideal candidate is a self-starter that is highly analytical with proven experience in digital optimization and a deep understanding the role of content, creative, and messaging to drive E-commerce outcomes.
Key to success is the ability to thrive in a small, entrepreneurial company where change is constant, growth is immense, and opportunities abound. You should have a bias for action, an appetite for continuous learning, and able to take initiative to drive results.
WHAT WILL THIS POSITION DO?
The Digital E-Commerce Director is responsible for leading all aspects of the Nella and Veillonella E-Commerce business implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of marketing tactics, optimizing user experience, and managing campaigns / digital advertising to deliver on monthly sales and ROAS goals.
The Digital E-Commerce Director will be responsible for working with the Senior Leadership team to develop strategy, launch plans, optimization opportunities, and generate reports for campaigns across multiple channels and platforms including Amazon, Search, E-Mail, Influencers, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tik Tok and more.
The Digital E-Commerce Director will work with creative teams and the Social Media Manager to develop creative assets (content and copy) for social media, not only to post but also to use for brand building collateral and in advertising. He / she will also oversee digital marketing agency partners and will report on key success metrics within the allocated marketing budget.
The Digital E-Commerce Director will be a key member of the leadership team working alongside the founders and reporting to the Chief Innovation and Growth Officer. Helping to build two new brands from the ground up, this person will own strategy, execution, and day to day management of all E-Commerce efforts, particularly Amazon, as well as play a key coaching role to the Social Media Manager to maximize brand building activities, grow our community, and support product launches.
Responsibilities include:
Sales Planning & Leadership
- Build and implement online sales plan and marketing strategy to reach business targets for sales goals and deliver on key performance metrics for Nella, Veillonella, and future product launches.
- Manage and grow Amazon business exponentially.
- Manage annual P&L and marketing budget to support media, social, search, influencer, retargeting, and affiliate marketing campaigns driving brand awareness, customer acquisition, engagement, and purchase / subscription conversion efforts.
- Build channel strategy for market expansion with specialty partners (retail, digital, experience).
- Prepare and present strategies and monthly business dashboards for leadership team and/or investor meetings.
Digital Marketing
- Create and manage annual plan of activities / promotions to support paid, owned, and earned campaigns across various verticals (digital media, search, social platforms, email campaigns, influencer/affiliate marketing, and partnerships).
- Manage digital advertising and Amazon agency partners to implement savvy media strategies to navigate changing platform algorithms and maximize ROI on paid social (Facebook manager), search (Google ads account) and Amazon. This includes looking at bid management PPC, reach, CTR, CAC, and ROAS.
- Continuously track, report, and adjust strategy to maximize ROI via A/B testing and data analysis to collect consumer insights and refine positioning, target segments, and messaging / ad copy across all touchpoints and engagement activities.
- Monitor existing and emerging fitness/social trends and keywords / topics to support SEM /and relevant content creation (i.e. blogs. social topics, PR opportunities, etc.).
- Understand and identify organic traffic driving strategies along the consumer journey funnel, including SEO and branded social activation across all platforms (IG, FB, YouTube, TikTok Reddit, etc).
- Support athlete engagement strategy to maximize ROI of influencers and affiliate programs.
- Work with copywriters and designers to create content and ensure it is informative, appealing, and on-brand across key formats (visual, verbal, video, gifs, etc.),
- Stay up to date with current technologies and trends in online advertising and D2C strategies to optimize Nella and Veillonella’s performance.
CRM and Website Management
- Monitor and implement website enhancements with a focus on user experience of NellaProbiotics.com to improve key metrics (bounce rates, conversions to purchase, site load speed, etc.) for mobile and desktop usability.
- Lead agency for creative design and functionality of feature additions and content updates, including expansion on product offerings, bundles, and other sales promotion incentives for our Shopify site.
- Manage email marketing platform, including flows, newsletters, content optimization, and promotions to improve open and click through rates with a goal to increase subscriber email list size.
- Collaboration with operations manager and order fulfillment team to provide sales forecast and ensure product unboxing experience is optimized,
WHAT ARE THE TRAITS OF AN IDEAL CANDIDATE?

Required skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or relevant ecommerce field, MBA preferred
- Minimum 5 years experience driving high-growth sales through DTC and Amazon.com
- 8+ years of proven work experience as a Digital Marketer
- Hands on experience in digital paid advertising (from strategy to running live campaigns)
- Knowledge of all online marketing platforms, including latest algorithm trends
- Solid knowledge of keyword research and Google Analytics
- Ability to brief and manage agency partners
- Excellent communication skills, strong copywriting skills
- Ability to coach and build capabilities within internal team
Preferred:
- Strong experience with fitness, health/diet communities, supplements, and/or wearable technologies
- Fitness and/or Supplement industry experience
