Job Summary
The team works with a myriad of clients - typically 3-5 at a given time - and the work ranges from startups with a dollar and a dream all the way up to multinational corporations looking to refresh their brand presence and brand or launch a new product.
The Director of Brand Strategy oversees and mentors a team of brand strategists. The Brand Strategy team conducts competitive brand analysis and research, crafts unique positioning directions, and guides messaging creation and ideation.
Responsibilities
- Act as trusted advisor to internal and external teams
- Provide cross-channel leadership and collaboration; own, drive and direct areas of collaboration with Hawke’s media, strategy and creative teams
- Hold teams accountable to provide complete A+ work on time and on point
- Solve complex problems for clients by understanding their business, its needs and industry and analytic trends
- Explain complex business, branding and data insights to clients at any point in their brand journey
- Channel management activities including:
- Manage internal/external team tasks
- QA of expert work where appropriate/needed
- Ensure project timelines are populated, updated and clearly communicated
- Create and communicate monthly, quarterly and annual plans to clients
- Manage department’s revenue stream and assign the appropriate experts to each account
- Expand on existing strategies, add new services and research new platforms to create growth
- Craft custom brand strategy proposals to support unique client needs
- Aid the sales and business development process (scoping, pitching, etc.) as needed
- Interview new brand strategy candidates as needed
Skills and experience
- 5+ years of advertising agency or brand management experience
- Excellent understanding of brand strategy frameworks (positioning statement, white space grids, etc.)
- Excellent understanding of makes a successful brand
- Solid understanding of 3rd party analytic platforms like Google Analytics
- Extremely strong analytical skills, with a data driven approach
- Demonstrated ability and experience advising/persuading C-Suite level executives
- Ability to extract trends and insights from complex and disparate data sets
- Intermediate knowledge of content, influencer and affiliate Marketing
- Knowledge of both standard e-commerce funnel as well as b2b/lead gen funnel (how to build, optimize, etc).
- Creative copywriting ability including customer personas, taglines, headlines, USPs, ad copy, website copy, etc
- Understanding of brand stewardship and how to grow and protect brand value
