Karma Automotive, founded in 2014, is a southern California based producer of luxury electric vehicles. Headquartered in Irvine, CA, Karma sells vehicles via its dealer network in North America, Europe, South America and the Middle East. Karma’s production facility (referred to as Karma's Innovation and Customization Center) is located in Moreno Valley, CA and offers world-class customization, and manufacturing services along with electrification platforms. Karma’s flagship vehicle, the Revero® GT, was awarded Green Car Journal’s 2020 Luxury Green Car of the Year™. In 2021 Karma announced the GS-6 Series which include an extended-range series hybrid EV and their first-ever all-electric vehicle. The Director, Marketing is the key driving force behind the company’s marketing efforts and global brand development. This role will provide leadership and direction to the Marketing team, leading development and execution of holistic, global marketing strategies and ownership of the complete customer journey.

Responsibilities (include, But Not Limited)

  • Lead strategic planning, development, and execution of Karma’s global marketing campaigns – spearheading innovative programs which support increased global brand development/recognition and retail growth
  • Provide leadership, direction, and support to in-house marketing team by incorporating content creation, corporate identity, digital and influencer marketing, event management, social media, and paid media as well as coaching and guiding interviews for all executive leaders interfacing with the media
  • Be driving force in building brand awareness, enhancing perception and consideration through creative use of marketing initiatives
  • Directs the development and execution of earned media strategy linked to the communications goals and strategic priorities
  • Steer CRM and customer journey strategy – manage journey from lead generation to conversion and customer retention
  • Deliver a funnel of leads to the sales team from all channels (digital, paid search, organic, social media, outbound demand generation, inbound marketing, content marketing)
  • Evaluates, prioritizes, and guides response to inbound media requests and assures media relations activities comply with regulatory requirements
  • Actively monitor competitors – provide competitive analysis, strategies, and tactics and respond to competitive challenges with creativity and agility
  • Lead and support the marketing team in the execution/implementation of all marketing plans with continual focus on business objectives and success
  • Oversees the organization’s response to media in crisis or breaking new situations
  • Align all marketing efforts with cross-functional business goals
  • Direct and support the Digital Marketing Manager in setting the web development strategy and continue to leverage technology and digital marketing channels
  • Define and execute relevant market research as well as speak with customers/partners to understand what they need and want so that we can identify and differentiate existing and potential product, channel, and market segment opportunities

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field - Master’s degree strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in dynamic marketing environment including proven experience of leading and developing teams
  • Digital marketing and event management experience a must
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing innovative, holistic marketing campaigns
  • In-tune with economic indicators and the latest in marketing trends; able to provide strategic direction for short and long-term
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to dissect complex subjects and explain clearly to multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and innovation mindset; able to think creatively, act independently, and challenge the norm
  • Proactive work ethic, can-do attitude, and very hands-on
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple demands in a fast-moving team environment working to tight and constant deadlines
  • High competence in project and complex, global stakeholder management
  • Proven ability to manage budgets
  • International experience advantageous
  • Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015), as applicable.
