As a multicultural marketing partner for several major motion picture studios, television networks, streaming services, and consumer brands the division primarily specializes in marketing entertainment properties to LatinX, African-American, and AAPI consumers across the country via a wide range of services, including targeted publicity, promotions, grassroots, partnerships, creative content and advertising, digital/social media, experiential, and influencer marketing.
Summary/Objective
As the VP Publicity/Marketing on our African American entertainment team, this person will lead a team of Account Directors, Publicists and promotions/grassroots and event experts to oversee, devise and execute marketing campaigns, publicity efforts, promotions, events, word-of-mouth, and grassroots strategies specifically aimed at African American consumers. This role reports to the MRKT Executive team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Duties/Responsibilities
- Leading the African American publicity/promotions/events team inclusive of approximately 10 employees
- Participating/leading client calls and meetings, contributing information and ideas pertinent to marketing initiatives and the African-American landscape at large, and developing a trusted rapport
- Leading negotiations for appropriate events, partnerships, HBCU programs, conference/festival integrations, and award shows, in the African-American space
- Developing internal directives for all accounts; leading brainstorm sessions and contributing creative and fresh thinking
- Leading the execution of selected events/activations, including logistical oversite, on-site management
- Team oversight on the delivery of campaign items to ensure all deadlines are met
- Ensuring the team is properly prioritizing and executing day-to-day publicity and promotional directives
- Overseeing the development of all client-related communications, including campaign proposals/plans, tailored directives, pitch emails, status reports, event overviews/recaps, final reports and advertising & promotions creative (e.g., advertising, promo ads, one-sheets, etc.)
- Managing (and, when necessary, attending) events including, but not limited to: junkets, press days, PA tours, stunts, screenings, etc.
- Overseeing campaign budgets and billing processes
- Taking an active role in the business development of the department, including identifying opportunities and helping to develop new revenue streams with assigned clients, as well as contributing to presentations/proposals with fresh strategic thinking and participating in pitch meetings
- Travel as needed

Education and Experience
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required. Minimum of 10 years previous experience in an agency, professional services, or entertainment environment. Experience managing a team and working within a multicultural environment are a plus.
Physical Requirements
Must be comfortable working remotely, with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, using a telephone, and working on a computer. May be required to type, write, speak, hear, touch with fingertips, grip, reach, and follow multi-part instructions, with or without accommodation. Must be able to occasionally lift 20 pounds.
