Job Summary
DESCRIPTION
The Global Marketing team within Alexa is looking for a driven and dynamic Head of Social & Trending Content who is passionate about Alexa, pop culture, and social media. The Head of Social & Trending Content will help us bring our service and offerings to life in social through content, experiences and community management so entertaining and engaging that people will want to have Alexa in their feeds and lives. We need a strategic and creative thinker that is a social generalist who has built a world-class social presence for a brand in a relevant category. You will be ready to own social from planning to measurement and know how to build cross-functional relationships and alignment to make sure that social becomes part of everything we do. You will also have a finger on the pulse of culture - the topics, themes, and trends that are relevant and aligned with Alexa brand superpowers - to then make strategic recommendations for how and when to thoughtfully bring Alexa into the conversation.
This role works closely with leaders and teams across Amazon including consumer PR, creative, Alexa feature marketing teams, measurement, Amazon Music, Prime Video and with external partners/agencies as well. This individual thrives in complex and fast-paced environments and can effortlessly pivot from mobilizing and scaling a team, tapping into cultural conversations, creating high and low fidelity social-first content and programs, and leading single and cross-channel social programs often simultaneously.
Responsibilities for this role include the following…
- Oversee the ideation, planning, and publishing of all Alexa social platforms including strategy, ideation, voice, operations and analytics
- Constantly identify best practices, optimizations and operational improvements to maximize social outputs and creativity
- Explore and develop best-in class, high-performing social creative that generates conversation/engagement and drives interest and brand love for Alexa
- Build thoughtful social marketing processes and efficient workflow to obtain and allocate resources to achieve strategic and operating goals
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement new social activations and series that contribute to driving top of mind awareness and consideration as well as affinity for Alexa
- Identify and action on new opportunities and tests within the social space while practicing ruthless prioritization
- Lead social influencer marketing and community management, working with internal teams and external partners to drive brand representation through authentic social interactions while optimizing for growth
- Own the "Alexa Newsroom" program of trending content - deciding when and how Alexa can join themes/topics/trends happening in culture
- Own Alexa's social media response to crisis
- Identify, measure and report against KPIs across all social channels. Use analytics and insights to drive testing and optimization strategies.
- Regularly report to internal partners, senior leadership, and external parties on social media successes and opportunities
- Lead and inspire a team of social media marketers with a variety of skill sets, and external agencies to develop and execute on social plans. Serve as the strategic connector to gain alignment and amplify opportunities across all parts of your team
- Share and scale learnings across Amazon, and build a playbook for social within Alexa and beyond.

Basic Qualifications
10+ years of professional non-internship marketing experience
5+ years of experience directly managing others
Experience using Microsoft Excel to manipulate and analyze data
Experience using data and metrics to measure impact and determine improvements
Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams
Experience presenting metrics and progress to goal to senior leadership
10+ years of marketing experience, with a portion of that time overseeing social media preferably in house in a brand or entertainment environment with deep social platform expertise (trends, formats, platform nuances)
Experience in crisis management to be able to successfully oversee community best practices and provide guidance for feedback and responses in partnership with PR
Demonstrated experience, and examples of step-changing social presence for brands, through social media tactics and strategies across organic and paid channels
Proven track record of defining successful social marketing plans that are creative, hypothesis-driven and data-driven
Experience with translating broader marketing goals into social and influencer strategies
Successful in working in a complex matrixed organization with multiple stakeholders and dependencies
Experience hiring and developing high performance teams in a results-driven environment. Proven people management skills (leadership role, team management and retention of top talent)
Excellent communicator both verbally and written, with an ability to communicate confidently with all levels in the organization—technical, business, creative, and executive
Creative and analytical mind that thrives in a data-driven environment and comfortable with social media metrics
Proven track record in delivering results, in a tech enabled business, including focusing on technical tools and automation to drive results at scale
Proven ability to manage and deliver through Creative & Production Teams (in-house and/or agencies)
Proven track record enhancing an organization’s social vision and strategy, and elevating a brand’s social accounts by evolving them from marketing platforms to content platforms
Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree with significant experience in Digital Marketing
Experience working in or closely with PR and building reactive marketing/PR plans to drive buzz/earned media at scale
Demonstrated leadership and expertise in driving brand awareness, interest, consideration, and affinity
Global or multi-country experience
Strong understanding of marketing measurement
