Overview: Universal Standard is looking for a NY-based Social Media Consultant to scale and lead innovation across the ever-evolving social ecosystem, with particular emphasis on video content creation (TikTok and IG Reels). At Universal Standard, we build social strategies that are differentiated, engaging, and customer-centric — specifically tailored for our audience. As our resident content creator, you will own the creative strategy and tactical execution for Universal Standard’s organic TikTok/Reels program and drive integration across the brand’s marketing campaigns and digital experiences. You will play a meaningful role in scaling the brand’s awareness on TikTok/IG and working closely with our Influencer Marketing Consultant to build the most robust content pipeline. In this role, you will be driving our cultural currency forward.

What You’ll Do:

  • TikTok Competitive Analysis: Ideate and develop competitive deep-dive for both endemic and non-endemic, best-in-class brands on TikTok.
  • Trend Analysis: Navigate daily content + audio trends and make swift content recommendations to drive awareness + channel growth, community engagement, and creative innovation.
  • Content Strategy: Lead ideation and development of TikTok (and Reels) content strategy, including content capture approach optimizing for audience captivation, brand relevance, publishing frequency, discoverability, and agility.
  • Content Calendar: Build the brand’s daily TikTok content calendar, leaving room for constant agility to lean into trends and platform innovations.
  • Content Creation + Production: Ideate, capture, art direct, edit, write captions/hashtags, and publish all US TikTok content – (1) post/day, (7) days/week.
  • Community Management: Monitor and manage the US TikTok community and inform on best practices for ongoing support
  • Influencer Marketing: Partner with Influencer Marketing consultant for thought leadership and trend briefing for each influencer campaign.
  • Analytics: Establish benchmarks + KPIs and report on results to inform future strategic initiatives

Who You Are:

  • At the cutting edge of the cultural zeitgeist, understanding digital and social culture and how to credibly and sensitively work within it whilst maintaining brand safety standards
  • Hands-on experience crafting and maintaining an editorial social calendar + brand voice and working cross functionally to evolve it
  • Ability to generate visual and short-form written content, by both creating your own and/or by collaborating with our Creative team, sourcing from influencers + the US community
  • Comfortability being on video
  • A change agent - obsessed with driving brand awareness via strategies tapping into social trends

Requirements:

  • ​​1+ years in content creation, with a specialization in video, for a DTC brand (fashion preferred)
  • Deep understanding and passion for the brand’s mission, customer, and voice
  • A social media native - you know the landscape, what’s in v. out, and how to leverage those insights to drive the brand forward (i.e. extensive experience and understanding of TikTok and Instagram)
  • Familiarity with social media publishing and analytics tools, and the ability to distill insights to inform growth
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to be a self-starter and a team player
