The Executive Director, Kaplan Community, serves as the point of contact and nexus between the online community, content producers, marketing and key stakeholders with Kaplan North America (KNA).

Primary Responsibilities

  • Create strategy for and coordinate the roadmap for development of specific targeted communities
  • Build out a community using internal and external content that will serve as a “product” line for the organization
  • Drive the content strategy and development of content in key areas of focus
  • Create engaging and shareable content for a blog, Facebook page, monthly newsletters and/or promotional videos. Recommend additional channels, assets, as necessary.
  • Constantly gather feedback from the community and bring those insights to the appropriate internal teams.
  • Plan and execute community initiatives and programs.
  • Make platform choice for community software
  • Manage and execute a community content strategy.
  • Help plan and run community events throughout the year.
  • Manage all internal and external community documentation.
  • Moderate, listen and engage regularly with the community members, providing them with any support and resources they need.

Coordinate With Functional Leads In Marketing To Help

  • Monitor social media campaigns and analyze web traffic from the online community using key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Identify new marketing and outreach opportunities to push brand, products and attract new community members.
  • Build and enhance reputation/profile of key Kaplan community thought leaders
  • Participate in social events, corporate events and workshops.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Analytics or related field         
  • 5+ years in Community Management with experience scaling Community Programs or 10+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing or expanding a professional community
  • Connection to a key target community (finance, medical, etc)
  • Knowledge of building best-in-class media content (podcasts, etc), ideally of social media and influencer marketing
  • Experience working with various online community platforms and tools.
  • Fantastic interpersonal skills, a great listener, and is extraordinarily empathetic.
  • Customer Service focused with a willingness to go the extra mile to serve our customers.
  • Solid understanding of cross departmental functions including Marketing, Technology and Product.
  • A strong communicator and writer. Being successful in this role will require you to excel at both internal and external communication.
  • Passion about being a community and customer advocate; understanding of why customer voices are so important.
  • Flexibility to adapt quickly when priorities change.
  • Solid understanding of cross departmental functions including Marketing, Technology and Product.
  • Strong organization skills; ability to masterfully multitask.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced startup-like environment.
  • Successfully set goals, prioritize, and maintain focus when it comes to deadlines.
  • Good technical understanding; ability to utilize new tools quickly.

Kaplan is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All positions with Kaplan are paid at least $15 per hour or$31,200 per year for full-time positions. Compensation for specific positions are based on job level, skills, years of experience, and education, among other factors. Additionally, certain positions are bonus or commission eligible.
