Introduction

About IRobot

We design and build innovative home robots and experiences that make life better by revolutionizing the way our users clean. We are designing new, intelligent, and fully accessible robots for in and around the home.

We value compassion, collaboration, diversity, and coloring outside the lines. We hire people—not only for work experience—but for perspective, positive and friendly attitude, and work ethic. We encourage you to apply—even if your experience doesn’t quite match up. We know great people take unique paths. We’re curious about yours.

About Design At IRobot

We’re a user-centered design team of UX and UI designers, researchers, animators, and writers. We’re passionate builders. We dream big—together—to build a better tomorrow. Our team is at the center of all iRobot products. We work closely with engineering, industrial design, packaging, and marketing to design new and exciting robotics.

As a designer, you’ll showcase your abilities and continuously evolve your skills by working on innovative technology with passionate colleagues. Your work will impact hardware and software interfaces, mobile and web apps, voice interaction, smart home integrations, computer vision, autonomous robot-generated intelligent mapping, and vehicle navigation.

As the Senior UX Designer, you’ll be central in planning the product strategy for iRobot’s up and coming products and experiences. You’re an influencer with the design chops to deliver world class products. You’re not afraid to debate and commit or to lead experimental projects. • Designing for global audiences using established user-centered design methodologies
  • Fluency in mobile apps, smart-home technology, and third-party integrations
  • Understanding customer needs using research, feedback, and market analysis
  • Designing architecture, interface, and interaction flow of physical and digital experiences
  • Experience with rapid, lo-fi prototypes and validation: sketches, ideation, paper prototypes

  • Balancing multiple concurrent priorities in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Influencing cross-functional business partners
  • Charting a course for yourself and others in ambiguous situations

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in UX design, human computer interaction, interaction design or related discipline
  • 2+ years' experience developing complex designs for consumer products
  • Cross platform design for web, iOS/Android, and emerging technology
  • Balance design, execution, research, and needs analysis
  • Shown ability to work through ambiguity and self-direct overall design approach
  • Strong communication and presentation skills

What we offer

  • This is a fully remote position supported by the best remote collaboration tools and a close-knit team that stays connected and supports a work-from-home culture.
  • Two free robots when you join and four 50% off codes per year for friends and family (plus you’ll get to live with lots of next generation prototypes and unreleased hardware).
  • We love to give back to the community through our iRobot Education and our STEM Outreach program. We hope to inspire the next generation of builders by spotlighting the opportunities STEM provides.
