As a Brand PR Associate Manager, you will support in the development of strategic planning, implementation, and measurement of integrated brand public relations efforts across select priority brands in the E. & J. Gallo portfolio. You will support the continuous improvement of the brand public relations center of excellence which ensures these strategic marketing disciplines are industry-leading and deliver ‘best-in-class’ thought leadership driving brand equity, cultural influence and business performance.

What You Will Do

  • Supports Brand PR managers in building, evolving, and implementing Gallo’s strategic framework to develop integrated brand public relations initiatives that effectively influence the influencer and earn strategic third-party endorsement from key influential voices for different consumer segments in multiple areas of culture, including travel, entertainment, fashion, sports, luxury, food and beverages.
  • Manages & oversees the execution of brand public relations programs for prioritized brands in the E. & J. Gallo portfolio to holistically secure positive third-party endorsement, including earned media, influencer marketing, celebrity endorsements and other influential voices.
  • Functions as liaison between Gallo and public relations agencies partnering with brand marketing in the day to day management and ensuring work consistently meets the highest quality standards.
  • Supports Brand PR manager in gathering necessary information and drafting best-in-class agency briefs
  • Builds and sustains working relationships with brand marketing teams, departmental colleagues, and cross-functional peers to sustain and grow modern, coordinated and unified public relations capabilities to meet business needs.
  • Provides expertise and subject matter guidance on the development of any consumer-centric, earned media plan and/or any influencer-focused campaign that involves either earned or paid-for talent supporting select, priority wine & spirits brands.
  • Fosters key strategic relationships with 3rd party publishers, earned media partners and consumer-centric journalists as well as social media influencers and paid ambassadors and spokespeople (who may include athletes, actors, musicians and/or entertainers) across the marketing spectrum.
  • Maintains positive working relationships with targeted partners, agents, brokers, platforms and stakeholders to generate positive association / endorsement / sentiment and/or unique strategic alliances on behalf of E&J Gallo and select priority brands within its portfolio.
  • Implements measurement and evaluation tools for all public relations disciplines, including media monitoring, influencer activity tracking and measurement, tagging and completing detailed coverage trackers. Organizes data, builds comprehensive reports and inputs required data in cross-functional scorecards.
  • Screens and assesses all opportunities – reactive and proactive – in order to determine relevance, extent of exposure and financial implications for brand public relations initiatives.
  • Implements media relations efforts, from building targeted media lists, pitching stories to media, building best-in-class press materials, following up with journalists and tracking publications.
  • Writes best-in-class public relations materials, including press releases, media alerts, key brand messaging, brand fact sheets, boiler plates, infographics and decks.
  • Maintains familiarity with the consumer media, influencer and other cultural leaders landscape (both traditional and emerging), in order to maximize brand exposure, advocacy and endorsement.
  • Maintains a sound understanding of compliance within the adult beverage industry ensuring that all planned PR, events and influencer marketing activities are fully compliant with company risk being minimized or altogether nullified.
  • Uses complete knowledge of the adult beverage industry as well as the E&J Gallo business to confidently express opinions and influence impacting both tactical implementation efforts as well as overarching strategic business decisions.
  • Participates in department and intra-departmental planning meetings as requested and works interdependently and seamlessly with both management teams and cross-functional peer groups to improve upon processes as well as contributing towards a best-in-class CoE on behalf of the organization.
  • Manages the successful contract negotiation of any and all agreements that are forged between E&J Gallo and any agency/vendor/3rd party partner, strategic alliance, IP rights holder, media/publisher, social network, talent management/broker, influencer and/or external spokesperson/ambassador; Contributes towards the acquisition of assets, access and IP rights associated with any contractual agreement that is procured on behalf of the company.
  • Serves as an external ambassador on behalf of E&J Gallo and represents the corporate values with the highest of integrity.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

What You Will Need

  • High school diploma or state-issued equivalency certificate.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or Marketing plus 6 years of consumer / lifestyle, public relations, and/or influencer marketing experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or Marketing plus 4 years of consumer/lifestyle, public relations, and/or influencer marketing experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR 10 years of consumer / lifestyle, public relations, and/or influencer marketing experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility
  • Exceptional communications skills: writing for press, presentation skills.
  • Experience responding to common inquires or complaints from Journalists, media/publishers, SAO’s, social media influencers, customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
  • Experience defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts and drawing solid conclusions.
  • Required to travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Candidates for this position must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver’s license or appropriate state driver’s license within 30 days of hire.

What Will Set You Apart

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or Business Administration with a Marketing concentration plus 8 years of consumer/lifestyle, public relations and/or influencer marketing experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience working in the alcohol-beverage industry.
  • Experience working with public relations agencies OR working at public relations agency.
  • Luxury background – experience working with luxury brands, knowledge of the space and luxury media contacts.
  • Experience working on D&I / multicultural communications initiatives.
