Role Overview: Reporting to the Senior Director of Communications, the Director plays a key role in our external affairs work, leading strategy and execution across our social media channels to ensure they are contributing positively to Lincoln Center’s strategic priorities—including building and sustaining relationships with new and diverse audiences, deepening engagement with existing fans, and innovating and experimenting on social media as part of broader digital communications strategy.
The Director of Social Communications works with a small social media team and collaborates closely with staff across the Communications, Marketing, and Advocacy department, executive management team, artistic and civic partners, and Lincoln Center resident organizations.
What you'll get to do here:
- Provide expertise and new ideas for social communications that align with Lincoln Center’s goals, industry, and accessibility best practices, and changes in the social media environment
- Design and manage the execution of social media campaigns around a range of Lincoln Center activities and advocacy, establishing specific goals around supporting mission and expanding audiences, and measuring effectiveness through a mix of quantitative and qualitative data
- Primary lead on shaping voice and community management across social channels
- Alongside the Chief Communications and Marketing Officer and team, evolve and enhance the Lincoln Center brand through thoughtful and innovative social campaigns
- Proactively collaborate with resident organizations across campus to amplify their work and voices
- Report on social media campaigns for internal colleagues and clients
- Manage the day-to-day assignment and review of work for junior staffers on the social media team.
You'll be a fit if you bring:
- 7+ years’ experience in social media, preferably with a cultural or nonprofit institution
- Proven record of leveraging social media to grow audience, deepen engagement, and amplify core messaging
- Demonstrated experience executing creative, multi-channel social media campaigns
- Expert understanding of social media best practices, ever-changing landscape, and metrics evaluation
- Record of productive team leadership in a fast-paced, creative social media setting
- Ability to manage and delegate a high workload, ensuring aggressive targets and deadlines are met
- Sense of humor and diplomatic skills essential
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Deep knowledge of the performing arts, contemporary pop culture and social media best practices
- Deep understanding of the diverse ethnic and immigrant communities in New York City
- Familiarity with FB Business Manager, Creator Studio, Sprout Social, Adobe Suite, Hive, Monday.com a plus.
- Fluency in Spanish a plus
