The Talk Mission is the team within Spotify responsible for building the best tools for audio and video podcast creators. We have three platforms that help us deliver a great creator experience: Anchor (the world’s biggest podcast hosting platform, which enables anyone to create, distribute, monetize, and grow a podcast, all for free), Spotify for Podcasters (the platform that makes it easy to understand and engage with your listeners on Spotify), and Spotify Live (the platform that connects Spotify’s biggest artists and podcasters with their biggest fans in an intimate live setting).

Our team is also responsible for innovating on the podcast format. Some of the industry-first features we’ve launched for Spotify creators and their fans include: Interactivity, Music+Talk, Video podcasts and Scaled monetization

What you'll do

  • Own the product strategy and execution for Spotify’s offering for Talk creators, across several platforms (Anchor, Spotify Live, Spotify for Podcasters, and more) and formats (e.g. Podcasts, Video, Live)
  • Lead a cross functional team including directly managing product and design (about 35 people total, including people managers), and partnering with user research, insights, engineering, etc to achieve success as a unit
  • Recruit, coach, and grow a high performing (and happy!) team of product and design leaders
  • Lead our evolution of current products in-market for talk creationLead the development of new product strategies to help talk creators build an audience, make money, and cultivate communities with their fans
  • Develop a deep understanding of both creator and listener needs that informs the systems we design for them to engage with one another
  • Collaborate closely with marketing, business strategy, and consumer teams to design and tune products based on market feedback and to drive cohesive go-to-market strategies
  • Ensure healthy and productive product and design teams
  • Be an influential member of Spotify’s Talk Mission leadership team, responsible for our holistic talk creator proposition

Who you are

  • You have a proven track record of effectively leading and executing a scaled consumer-facing product – even better if you’ve worked on a product that helps consumers create something or express themselves
  • You have a strong perspective on the future of the creator economy and topics such as creator tools, media platforms, monetization models, creative expression, and general internet culture
  • You are experienced at managing organizations with many cross-functional partners and business stakeholders (legal, finance, other product teams, etc)
  • You are an inclusive people leader with a track record of building and managing healthy teams that drive impact
  • You have experience managing managers and growing leaders within your organization
  • You have experience leading complex strategic initiatives, and have distinctive problem-solving and analytical skills
  • You are an excellent written and verbal communicator and collaborator
  • You default to action and are able to motivate a team to move thoughtfully but quickly, focusing on real impact for the business and our users
  • Ideally, you are a fan of podcasts

  • Where in the world? For this role, we’re ideally looking within the Americas region (anywhere we have a work location)

  • Working hours? We operate within the EST time zone because we work closely with collaborators both on the West Coast and in Europe. Ideally you are located in EST but if you’re able to work EST hours we are open to other locations.
