Position Summary

The Director, Footwear – Athlete Outfitting will create and drive the long-term strategic vision for the outfitting and building of footwear for our Global athletes, Universities, and Marquee events. This is a highly complex, visible, and critical function within Footwear that needs an experienced and technical leader. The focus of this position will be working across the CPO organization to set the long-term roadmap and at the same time manage and develop the team to drive the coordination across all footwear categories and Under Armour. This role will be an integral member of the Footwear leadership team, overseeing the footwear outfitting needs of a robust Global Sports Marketing portfolio, inclusive of Professional Athletes, NCAA athletes and major brand events. This role will provide strategic cross-functional leadership spanning footwear design and development, supply planning, sports marketing, and customer service. The Director of Athlete Outfitting Footwear will be responsible for creating long-term strategies, building strong internal and external relationships, and improving efficiencies and communication. With the emphasis of providing world-class product and service to our athletes and teams. one of the main responsibilities of the Director position is to act in a leadership capacity across the CPO organization. The overall result is this role will create a leadership position that will drive a highly critical function within CPO and Footwear.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • LEADERSHIP IDENTITY. Effectively communicate the vision and direction for Footwear to the CPO organization and Brand teams throughout the entire creation process.
  • HIGH LEVEL COMMUNICATION. Work closely with Footwear Leadership, Merchandising, Marketing, Sports Marketing, Planning, Sourcing to communicate the vision, set the direction in a highly coordinated and transparent manner.
  • BUILD HIGH PERFORMING TEAM. Lead and build a high performing team while communicating vision, inspiring creativity, and developing talent
  • VISION. Establish and drive the Strategic Vision for Athlete Outfitting. This includes the LRP.
  • The Director of Athlete Outfitting role will create seasonal strategies, targets, line architecture for all sports across each division.
  • Establish KPI’s and tangible long-term goals for the category.
  • Manage budget across T&E, product seeding, innovation & operating expenses.
  • The Director will partner with cross functional leaders in Product, Design, Merchandising, and Sourcing to drive the product creation process across all categories with an annual management upward of 1,200 plus SKUs across all sport categories.
  • Partner with inline footwear product teams to ensure athletes are outfitted with our most innovative product helping them perform at the highest level.
  • Consult with innovation team to ensure Under Armour is using best-in-class equipment and technology being used for athlete interactions.
  • Spearhead the continued evolution of B2B ordering process.
  • Ensure best in class product integrity for on-field product.
  • Partner with QA teammates to ensure processes are being adhered to on factory production lines.
  • This role is responsible for managing extensive relationships with executive leadership both internally and externally.

External to UA, this role will maintain relationships with all our key global athletes, athletic directors, equipment managers, coaches.

  • The complexities of these relationships are vast and will include varying levels of sharing information and influencing others.
  • Develop player profiles to improve documentation surrounding athlete communication.
  • Create robust selling tools to better equip global sports marketing partners.
  • Partner with sports marketing to develop educational summits for external partners.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • Experience in a fast-paced, sports-driven company
  • Critical expertise in dealing with professional and collegiate, high school athletes and the complexities associated with footwear and unique anatomical requirements
  • Lives and breathes the UA culture.

Education And / Or Experience

  • 10 or more years’ experience in the industry with 4+ years of managerial experience
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 30% plus Domestic & International

Other Requirements

  • Location: This individual must reside within commuting distance from our global headquarters in Baltimore, MD.
  • Return To Work Designation: 3 days a week in-office, the remainder of work week remote.
