About the Job:

CHANEL is looking for a Specialist to join our People & Organization (P&O) Team in South Coast Plaza. You will lead the execution of core Human Resources processes within the South Coast Plaza as well as identifying opportunities for specific people strategies. You will be a key business partner to the Boutique Leadership Team (“BLT”) in helping build their leadership skills and driving performance in a human driven way. Our ideal candidate will be both hands on and strategic, drawing upon their passion for building relationships and experience in creating effective solutions.

What impact you can create at CHANEL:

Employee Relations:



  • You will manage and resolve employee relations issues by conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • You will consult with the internal P&O Team/ Legal Team to ensure consistency in handling of employee relations issues.
  • In collaboration with Benefits team, you will manage worker’s compensation issues, leaves of absence and accommodations.

Performance Management:



  • You will partner with the BLT to proactively identify opportunity areas and performance gaps.
  • Support performance management by providing frequent guidance to BLT (i.e. coaching, counseling, disciplinary actions, and exits).
  • Collaborate with BLT and Lead P&O for the Region to ensure consistency in handling of performance matters and administration of processes.

Talent Development and Organizational Structure:



  • You will support the BLT in conducting career discussions with team members, highlighting developmental needs.
  • Provide input on organizational structure, workforce planning, talent reviews and succession planning in partnership with Lead P&O for the Region.
  • Guide the annual compensation and performance review process for the Boutique, providing direction, counsel, and support to the BLT.
  • You will analyze trends and utilize the insights gleaned in decision making related to various P&O items (i.e. diversity and well-being etc.).

Employee Engagement:



  • Focus on creating an inclusive culture that nurtures personal growth, contributing to collective progress.
  • Embody and infuse CHANEL’s competencies and behaviors with a concerted focus on well-being.
  • You will build and foster connections across all levels within the Boutique by maintaining a presence and displaying a genuine curiosity about the Retail space, which will look like 1:1 check-ins, round table discussions, and pulse checks.
  • Partner with BLT and Education Team to onboard and integrate new team members.
  • Complete exit interviews and partner with BLT to utilize findings in making meaningful decisions within the Boutique.

Recruitment:



  • Forecast hiring needs with BLT, particularly as it relates to peak seasons.
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to fill open roles, specifically acting as a key influencer in the hiring of BLT members.
  • Champion and accelerate a culture of diversity and inclusion.
  • Work with Talent Acquisition and BLT to build a diverse pipeline of candidates in the market for future openings.

Compliance / Policy / Procedure:



  • Continuously build a knowledge of employment best practices, with specific knowledge of Federal/State employment application to include: business process, talent management and development, hiring, employee relations, policies, and procedures, change management, problem solving, meeting design, etc.
  • Partner closely with Legal, Retail Operations, and Total Rewards to establish alignment and respond to inquiries.

What you will bring to the team:



  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written), strong relationship building skills as well as the ability to influence and assess situations objectively.
  • Ability to use discretion and independent judgment.
  • Prior HR experience within a Retail/Wholesale environment.
  • Performance Management experience.
  • Strong detail orientation and ability to prioritize.
  • Comfort with HRIS systems (such as Workday) and performing basic analysis in Excel.

Position Logistics:



  • 2-3 + years of core HR (HR Generalist) experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required.
  • Ability to be in home boutique 3 days per week.
