The Sr. Director, Funko Marketing is a key leader within the overall Funko marketing team, responsible for all elements of brand strategy, product marketing, integrated marketing, and owned marcom channels (social media, influencers, brand digital media) for core and sub-brands under the Funko brand pillar.

A leader who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, the ideal candidate will craft the future brand vision and lead the team to deliver on our ambitious brand and commercial goals for the future. From engaging and exciting our core Funatic audience to bringing new consumers into the Funko fold, the Sr. Director will bring together insights, audience and stories to elevate awareness, brand distinction, and help fulfill Funko’s ambition of being the ultimate pop-culture lifestyle brand.

The Sr. Director will lead the team in the development of a meaningful brand and product story calendar and work cross-functionally to bring it to life. They will establish the processes, tools and ways of working to enable scale, while remaining true to our brand ethos. They will guide the briefing process and challenge teams to bring programs to life in authentic, engaging ways, tapping into the cultural zeitgeist to engage the fan and introduce new product lines.

The Sr. Director serves as the key marketing lead for the core Funko brand across and outside of the organization, always collaborating across departments, regional teams, and with our key license and retail partners to define and achieve goals. They will define strategy, targets and enable/empower a team of equally high performers to deliver. The combination of these efforts will result driving awareness, affinity, engagement, and ultimately sales for the brand.

Your Superpowers in Action

  • Drive and lead integrated go to market strategies that include social media, events, product marketing, and brand/creative for the Funko brand
  • Partner with business, product, and sales leads to align marketing plans to strategic business objectives and milestones such as awareness and sell through of new product lines
  • Be a steward of the Funko brand, drive brand affinity by continuously listening to fans and social conversation, adapting messaging to be culture-forward, timely and compelling.
  • Lead the development and cross-functional priority alignment of the annual marketing calendar to inform campaign and story creation
  • Oversee agency contracts and annual budget planning for the Funko brand
  • Ensure Funko marketing team is delivering best-in-class capabilities and partnership across all departments, instilling a culture of collaboration and curiosity, with results driven mindset
  • Work with Head of Marketing to refine Funko brand architecture, vision, and strategy
  • Work with Head of Marketing to identify collaborations, particularly in the high-end fashion and sports categories that elevate the Funko brand and grow our fan base
  • Develop and oversee social and influencer marketing, identify strategies to nurture our incredible fan base while reaching and retaining new fans
  • Collaborate across shared marketing services and brand marketing leads to share best practices and maximize on cross-brand opportunities

Must-Have Superhero Gadgetry

  • 10-15 years experience in marketing, 5+ years managing teams
  • Experienced leader with ability to set the vision, create and develop processes to enable the work, and coach/develop team members to achieve their highest potential
  • Natural collaborator with team-first mentality; can lead both through influence and authority
  • Experience working within and developing integrated marketing strategies for an omni-channel consumer brand
  • Ability to work across the art and science of marketing; knows how to interpret data, extract insights, and leverage them to tell creative, innovative stories
  • Tapped into pop-culture and fandoms; understands consumer affinities across film/television, music, sports, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to think from a consumer lens; always puts the fan at the forefront of strategies, programs and initiatives
  • Experience building and managing budgets
