Team Overview

The Publisher Development team exists to maximize supply opportunities, discovering audiences that grow the network with the goal of increasing overall yield for a region. The team consists of three distinct functions; Publisher Acquisition, Activation and Partnership teams. The Publisher Partnerships team focuses on strategic management of key publishers & supply sources, including the Rakuten Influencer offering.

Job Description

The Senior Manager, Influencer will lead the continued growth and development of our North America and UK (US, UK and Canada) Network Influencer Offering. Under the direction of the Sr. Director, Publisher Partnerships, this role will have the responsibility of leading and guiding the Influencer Team responsible for overseeing the Rakuten Advertising and Mavrck partnership. They will be a part of the US publisher leadership team and key stakeholder to define standardized processes across the Rakuten Advertising Influencer offering. The position is also responsible for staffing, training, management and development of an Influencer team to support the ongoing regional alignment between the Commercial and Publisher teams.

Responsibilities include:

  • Operate as the face of the Influencer offering at Rakuten Advertising
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert in all things Influencer and Creator when it comes to our Commercial, Product and Operational Teams
  • Present and create pitch decks both internal and external as the key stakeholder for our partnership with Mavrck; act as a key leader for Commercial pitches
  • Responsible for our Mavrck-sourced Influencer portfolio for US, UK and Canada in conjunction with a day-to-day publisher team
  • Create and establish an operational flow for RAD across the entire organization (Billing, Commercial, Salesforce)
  • Manage reporting and KPIs via Salesforce, Looker, RMAP and JIRA and report back to leadership on Influencer pipeline + revenue
  • Envision a future-state for the Influencer org and begin building out what it will look like across the Publisher Team in conjunction with global Publisher Partnership Leads
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across RAD and Mavrck to deliver results for both the Publisher Team and Commercial team
  • Develop a long-term relationship with Mavrck; understand the product and operational vision between RAD and Mavrck to allow for deeper product collaboration and improvement
  • Regularly monitor the performance of Influencers and Creators, establish and track KPIs on portfolio and network performance via RAD and Mavrck
  • Provide ongoing support for Mavrck Influencer onboarding, practices and activities
  • Lead a team of global account managers responsible for providing the highest level of client service, understanding and promotion of the RAD and Mavrck tools and technology
  • Collaborate with Commercial Team across CS and Sales to deliver a white-glove experience for all our partners, both Advertisers and Influencers
  • Ensure publisher compliance to FTC guidelines around disclosures, etc. working closely with the Brand & Network Quality Team

Key Requirements

Functional expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree +; 5-7+ years marketing/advertising technology industry experience
  • Strong decision-making, organizational, planning and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with Jira/Confluence, Salesforce, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally
  • Product consulting and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills with a proven track record of developing relationships at engineering, operations and C-levels
  • Work with a geographically distributed team
  • Ability to recruit, train, mentor, and retain talent
  • Experience in staffing, training, and managing teams to deliver on broader corporate goals. A track record of team leadership with the ability to build and motivate a team and drive results
  • Passionate about working in an extremely fast-paced, demanding, and fluid start-up environment
  • Experience in creating new processes and operational flows for a large global team

  • Solid expertise in digital marketing concepts / solutions, particularly Influencer & Affiliate Marketing
  • In depth knowledge of the online advertising industry, technology solutions, advertising / publisher and network business models, understanding of various economic models employed in industry (CPA, CPC, CPM, CPL, etc.) with knowledge of major affiliates and various channels

At the time of posting, Rakuten expects the base salary for this role will be between $83,300- $*125,200. Individual compensation will vary based on job-related factors, including the skills, qualifications, and experience of the successful candidate as well as business need and geographic location. The successful applicant for this role will be eligible for discretionary bonus, health, vision, dental insurance, 401k matching, PTO, Volunteer Time Off (VTO), and other employee benefits as the company implements.
