Job Overview

UpRoar is looking for a visionary Director of Business Development and Partnerships to play a critical role in launching this cutting-edge, GenZ-focused platform. You will be a key member of our business development team, ensuring that UpRoar’s platform creates a significant impact on the social media landscape through business partnerships with innovative and influential parties.

You will support the development and execution of a strategy to increase user adoption and drive platform growth through developing partnerships and identifying opportunities to scale the company. You will spearhead the management of all strategic partnerships – from initial research and outreach to engagement and execution – to expand the company’s business opportunities across the technology and social media ecosystem. These partners will include brands/advertisers, influencers/creators, celebrities and more.

The ideal candidate has experience dealing in forging partnerships with influencers and brands, and has relationships with many of the brand and influencer agencies. This person has worked with and around the entertainment industry, and should be familiar with social platforms with an innate understanding of digitally native audiences. This person must have experience dealing. Strong relationships within the technology and digital creator/influencer communities is a plus. You must have a demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically about business, product, and technical challenges – all with the ability to build and convey compelling value propositions.

This person should be a charismatic networker with an appetite for dealmaking and a strong entrepreneurial spirit, as well as a record of leading and scaling high-performing teams to successfully deliver products to market. You should have an unstoppable self-starter mentality and adapt quickly to obstacles. You should be comfortable working with senior leadership and C-suite executives in a fast-moving work environment, while possessing a creative curiosity and eagerness to build. You should have a genuine fascination for social media, and a commitment to affecting global change.

The Stuff You’ll Work On

  • Manage the strategic business development process: creation of presentations and strategic analysis; identifying new profitable creative and commercial partnership opportunities; conducting due diligence on prospective partners, analyzing alternatives, and supporting deal discussions as needed
  • Business development planning, forecasting, and pipeline (CRM) management, alongside key internal stakeholders (e.g., product, engineering, marketing, legal, finance, etc.) in order to adapt to and align with changing marketplace conditions
  • Assist in the creation, adjustment, and execution of an effective go-to-market strategy, including identification, outreach, education, and buy-in of key creative partners, remaining their primary point of content. This will include managing key relationships with large public entities and private partners, as well as their business partners
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders, including Product, Marketing, Engineering, Legal and Finance on the execution of UpRoar’s go-to-market strategy
  • Provide support in building, managing and maintaining the Business Development team’s CRM (i.e., HubSpot, Salesforce, and coordinate business intelligence and market research
  • Bootstrap UpRoar’s partnership program with brands, influencers and thought leaders in the space. Evangelize the company’s platform through careful planning and strategic decision-making with high-level brands and partners
  • Partner with leadership to evaluate new opportunities; work with Product to provide market feedback on feature sets; Marketing on company messaging; Finance on financial modeling and forecasting; and Legal on creation of terms and documentation
  • Understand the technical requirements of our users and work closely with the internal development teams to guide the direction of our feature offerings for developers
  • Collaborate with leadership to create, manage and grow a prospective pipeline to drive strategic partnership growth by targeted user personas and brand sectors
  • Coordinate and participate in networking events, industry conferences and speaking/panel opportunities to increase visibility and educate the market on our value propositions
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the social media space, and stay up-to-date on the latest trends and technologies
  • Own, measure and grow partnership initiatives against identified KPIs to maximize partnership and business performance and achieve established goals

Stuff You’ve Done And Built

  • Undergraduate degree, equivalent work experience, or an equally compelling collection of non-academic life experiences
  • 6+ years of general business development and partnerships experience including proven networking and relationship-building skills
  • Experience with the newest entries into the social media space. You’ve managed influencer, digital media and/or other partner programs to drive revenue and user growth
  • Relentless hands-on problem-solver, unafraid of challenging the status quo
  • Experience dealing in forging partnerships with influencers and brands, and has relationships with many of the brand and influencer agencies
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with teams across departments
  • Positive attitude, competitive spirit and ability to adapt and pivot quickly
  • Comfort in managing outreach efforts, establishing relationships, and selling the vision of UpRoar with creators, influencers, high-profile marketing organizations, and senior business leaders at target partner companies
  • Creative problem solver who combines sound financial/business judgment with a product-first mentality. Self-motivated with ability to work in an unstructured environment and bring structure where necessary
  • Experience with CRM tools (i.e., HubSpot, Salesforce, etc.)
  • Experience with an emerging organization that is building their brand from the ground up
  • Some understanding of commercial legal contracts and an ability to interact with legal teams to document NDAs, MSAs and SOWs, etc.
  • Strong oral, written and formal presentation skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple way.

Base Salary: $95,000 - $140,000. At UpRoar, base pay is one part of our total compensation package. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on your skills, qualifications and experience.
