The Role:

As the PR Manager you will be responsible for managing and executing public relations strategies and tactics relating to all Milk Makeup products and brand. This individual will be tasked with growing brand awareness through a multi-faceted approach including editorial placement and thought leadership. They will work with cross functional business partners and external agencies to identify press opportunities and help develop and execute a cohesive best-in-class strategy based on brand priorities.

How you’ll THRIVE

  • Work with PR agency partners globally to provide day to day management of the relationship and to own the execution of a PR strategy which includes traditional and non-traditional PR tactics, influencer marketing and meaningful experiences for media and customers.
  • Work closely with the Director of Influencer + PR to develop/execute PR strategy that identifies and amplifies all key brand initiatives for Milk Makeup while ensuring brand consistency across all communications.
  • RFP potential new agencies and partner with existing PR agencies in global regions to bring strategies to life around the world.
  • Lead press asset development including press materials, bios, backgrounders, fact sheets and in-depth media list development.
  • Act as an effective advocate for PR priorities and initiatives, proactively seek unique opportunities and partnerships to generate brand exposure.
  • Track the beauty landscape, competitive environment, and consumer trends to ensure that Milk Makeup is positioned as an industry leader.
  • Develop and deliver an effective communication strategy around initiatives that increase brand awareness, reinforce the brand ethos and drive the business.
  • Oversee agency project planning and, in conjunction with cross functional partners, develop compelling PR events, product mailings, presentations and programs that engage top tier media partners and create desirability for the brand.
  • Build relationships with editors to secure press coverage and pitch new stories (trends, NPD, community amplification, and company programs and initiatives).
  • Manage/Develop cohesive pitching plans/tactics that deliver targeted messages securing significant press coverage, feature stories and organic social media
  • Create and package communication tools to educate agency partners, associates and customers about core brand messages and key brand initiatives.
  • Conduct showroom appointments with press, editors, stylists and bloggers.
  • Partner with internal teams for support (information, samples, images, etc.) needed to pitch new and ongoing products.
  • Collaborate with editorial team to write materials including news releases, key messages, Q&A documents and media pitches
  • Management of events for new collection launches, seasonal press days, press relationship building events and in-store events.
  • Build and maintain a network of press and thought leader relationships; maintain an effective internal database of contacts that streamlines the planning and pitching process.
  • Spearhead the MMU strategy toward developing high profile relationships with celebrities/beauty editors and to facilitate/negotiate paid and native editorial partnerships
  • Build and distribute monthly recaps that show key initiatives and learnings to leverage for future activations.
  • Regularly analyze results and ideate new strategies and tactics to improve PR metrics.
  • Oversee PR budget and expenses.

We would like YOU to have:

  • Experience managing multiple PR agency partners in a global capacity
  • 4-7 years of related PR work experience, ideally from indie beauty background
  • Has existing or has the ability to develop high profile relationships with celebrities/beauty editors and to negotiate paid and native editorial partnerships on behalf of Milk Makeup
  • Budget/revenue management experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, creative and out of the box thinker
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills required
  • Adaptability and multi-tasking capability, with solid time management
  • Thrive in an environment of changing situations and priorities
  • Demonstrate ability to work in a collaborative environment and dynamically align to changing business conditions
