Position Summary
Be at the forefront of sharing the Hawaiian Airlines story through social media. As the social media specialist, you’ll work in a dynamic, creative and collaborative environment and help lead the company’s growing brand and social media presence across its local, national and international markets. The ideal candidate will have a passion for travel (flight benefits are included!), experience in social strategy, content creation, community management and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This position will be the primary lead creating social content, own complex projects, manage vendor relationships and work collaboratively with teams across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and create social media content for multiple platforms to communicate strategic brand messages and support tactical marketing objectives
- Manages social media agencies, overseeing their content creation, internal review process and platform capabilities
- Create and manage the social media content calendar in partnership with agencies and internal content teams
- Execute campaigns and projects through strong project planning and management, as well as effective coordination with vendors and stakeholders
- Produces visual, video and written assets for social media channels that meet brand standards
- Serve as the day-to-day contact for international social media channel managers. Oversee social care program alongside agency and contact center partners through facilitating agent escalations and maintaining the program’s knowledge base
- Create and amend social media community policies, communicates those to the communities, as well as other stakeholders
- Monitor, triage, address and translate upcoming social trends for branded content
- Manages photographers and videographers to plan and capture content at company activations
- Work closely with digital agencies to strategize and coordinate paid social media placements
- Generates reports for key social media metrics and campaigns. Presents social marketing metrics to leadership and peers to analyze the performance and adjust social strategies and tactics accordingly
- Moderates user-generated content and manages usage rights for social media assets using the company’s digital asset management platform
- Coordinate with and manage influencer partnerships, as well as develop and manage an influencer ambassador program.
- Activate in emergency response situations, supporting the Corporate Communications department with crisis communications
- Other duties, as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Marketing, Communications, or Public Relations or equivalent related working experience
- Minimum of 4 years of social media marketing or related experience
- Experience with content marketing and editorial planning
- Exceptional written and visual storytelling skills, evidenced by former portfolio work.
- Experience with a social media management platform
- Excellent project management skills. Able to manage and execute multi-faceted projects and meet multiple deadlines while maintaining consistent performance
- Excellent attention to detail
- Able to work cross-departmentally with a variety of stakeholders to achieve a common goal
- Able to learn the Hawaiian Airlines brand and accurately evaluate creative according to guidelines and social media creative best practices
- Comfortable with public speaking and reporting key marketing metrics
- Willing to work on some nights and weekends to capture content at event activations
- Willing to work an on-call schedule during nights and weekends to monitor and support social care agents
- Willing to travel and ability to acquire a passport
- Strong Microsoft Office skills

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the airline industry
- Knowledge of Hawai‘i travel industry customer service best practices
- Experience leading photo and video shoots from concepting through execution
- Experience in managing and creating content for a brand’s social media account
- Experience managing vendors and marketing agencies
- Photography, videography and/or graphic design skills
- Proficient in photo- and/or video-editing mobile applications
- Strong analytical and reporting skills
- Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop, Lightroom or Premiere Pro
- Exhibits strong emotional intelligence and ability to build successful relationships across internal teams and with vendors
- Knowledge of Hawai‘i - geographically, culturally and sociologically
