Jr. Art Director - Intern
Job Description:
Rakuten is looking for a talented Jr. Art Director! We will help grow your skills, and develop your talent this summer. We are looking for ‘Big Idea” thinkers. This is an opportunity to gain exposure to a real fast paced-tech working environment. We're looking for a digitally-focused, highly skilled, art director to work on promotional campaigns, digital marketing, social and TV. You will be a part of a hands-on team, ideating, and working on actual briefs and deliverables. In the last two years, Rakuten has transformed an in-house studio into a full-service advertising creative and production arm. The output has included fully-integrated holiday campaign, two celebrity-fueled Super Bowl efforts, a DRTV campaign, creating and launching an annual shopping event to rival Amazon Prime Days, a pop-up shop, robust influencer programs, work with NBA superstar, Steph Curry, and much, much more.
Key Responsibilities
Support the creative team by concepting, designing and execution of campaigns across different mediums (email, social, site, tv, video and experiential) Work with a copywriter partner Shows understanding of brief and can deliver conceptual ideas Provide design support for the greater design team as needed, outside of assigned projects Work collaboratively with a team, cross-departmentally, and with senior leadership Presenting and selling ideas/executions

Qualification Requirements
- Currently getting a bachelor’s Degree in a design related field or has extensive design experience
- A diverse portfolio showcasing a range of creative work full of ‘big ideas’
- Experienced in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
- Experienced in Figma, Sketch or other prototyping software
At the time of posting, Rakuten expects the hourly rate for this role will be $25.00/hr. Individual compensation will vary based on job-related factors, including the skills, qualifications, and experience of the successful candidate as well as business need and geographic location.
