About The Role

Tribeca is seeking a proactive, articulate, and passionate Festival Relations Manager for the 2020 Festival. Reporting to the Programming Manager, the Festival Relations Manager will lead the Festival Relations team throughout the pre-fest period and during the Festival, while managing a team of 10-12 coordinators working with individual film, panel, and hybrid sections. The Manager will assist coordinators with all logistical coordination and hospitality-related questions leading up to and during the festival, including materials collection, ticketing, credentials, travels, events, and screenings, as well as act as the main internal liaison between the Festival Relations teams and various departments such as Programming Operations, Screenings, Box-Office, Travel, and more.

In select cases, the Manager will be the main point of contact for creative teams that fall outside of individual sections supported by the Coordinators, and will additionally create and lead a series of training exercises for both the Festival database and various pieces of correspondence provided by the department throughout the pre-fest period.

About You

Our ideal candidate is an individual with 4+ years of experience within Festival or Artist Relations/Guest Services, and/or event operations, with a passion for the world of storytelling across a wide variety of mediums. The candidate will bring experience from both of these fields and be able to proactively anticipate any filmmaker and internal obstacles, while working to lead a team of coordinators through these issues as they arise. Ideally, the candidate will additionally have experience in a festival environment and an understanding of both the roles of internal departments such as programming, screenings, and operations, as well as an understanding of the current state of the larger film industry.

Responsibilities (day-to-day And Broad)

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Festival Relations team, including all filmmaker, panels, and hybrid coordinators, troubleshooting various issues as they arise and providing feedback on panelist and filmmaker questions.
  • Act as primary representative of Festival Relations department to internal departments, arranging meet-and-greats and inter-departmental meetings throughout the pre-fest process.
  • Design and lead training meetings on the festival’s database system and main Festival Relations team correspondence as they arise.
  • Review applications and conduct interviews for Festival Relations Coordinator and PA roles.
  • Act as lead coordinator for hospitality and logistics for high-profile projects or screenings that don’t fall under the purview of larger sections.
  • Provide larger logistical and demographic information on film, panels, and artist details when appropriate to departments such as Programming Operations, Screenings, Box-Office, Travel, and Production.
  • Support all Festival Relations Coordinator staff on the ground throughout the festival by acting as primary festival hosts to filmmakers at screenings and events (schedule permitting), and help troubleshoot issues throughout filmmaker registrations, individual screenings, and larger Festival events.
  • Lead festival wrap process for Festival Relations team, including conducting internal wrap meetings following the festival.

REQUIREMENTS (AKA: KNOWLEDGE + SKILLS)

  • 5+ years working with filmmakers and creative talent, or within a festival environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing quick turn-around times, and multiple individual projects at once.
  • Ability to be forward thinking and put together a plan of action for workflow stages weeks or months in the future
  • Experience managing a small teams of at least 5 employees at once through day-to-day operations
  • Experience managing projects with multiple deadlines and overlapping timelines
  • Some familiarity with databases and data management software, ideally with experience training others on those systems
  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate information essential
  • Passionate about the importance of storytelling across a variety of mediums and film festival, as well as bringing unique and unheard voices to the forefront.
  • Strategic sensibility to evaluate work and have a point-of-view when needed.
  • Event and media experience is a huge plus.
  • Familiarity with external stakeholders in a film festival setting helpful
