Do you want to help make the world a better place with your digital skills? We’re seeking a Social Media Manager based in New York who will shape and run Open Society’s social media, working as part of the Digital and Creative team to support the Communications department.

Communications plays a central role in the work of the Foundations by coordinating and strengthening the public presence of the global network and by helping to advance relevant issues. Communications works to raise the Foundations’ public profile by promoting the network’s many noteworthy achievements as well as responding to attacks from opponents of open society around the world.
As Social Media Manager You Will
- Develop, launch, and run multiple social media channels, including managing content calendars for each channel
- Serve as lead writer for social content, and collaborate with creative team to create engaging social-first content across multiple channels
- Build and strengthen our audience engagement across all channels, collaborating with team to optimize content and drive to quarterly/annual channel goals
- Manage relationships and contracting with vendors and consultants
- Write creative briefs and define content objectives for campaigns, initiatives, and content series
- Serve as a strategic partner for other teams, training and advising staff on best practices and coordinating efforts across distributed social accounts
- Surface trends and cross-channel opportunities, including audience engagement opportunities and content/creator partnerships
- Perform other duties as assigned
What We Are Looking For
- A minimum of 5-7 years of experience managing social media accounts, preferably for a global organization focused on advocacy or social good
- Superior skills in writing and editing short-form social media content
- Experience building and managing a social platform strategy including content calendaring, social listening, and audience engagement
- Superior writing and editing skills in English with additional languages preferred
- Flexibility, creativity, a ton of initiative, and ability to take on multiple evolving responsibilities effectively
Desirable (but Not Required)
- Commitment to advocacy work for civil society, and, in particular, for the work supported by the Open Society Foundations
- Demonstrated cultural competency, self-awareness, and experience working with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds
- Fluency in general technology and the latest digital and social media trends

- For our office in New York City, the salary range for this role is USD 76,300 to USD 133,500
