Job Title: Director, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)

Reports to: Chief Administrative Officer

Location: Remote

The Role

The Director, DEI is responsible for leading the acceleration and scale of the global DEI vision, strategy, and employee experience at Deckers, building tailored strategies, programs, and experiences that enhance inclusion in the workplace, and are instrumental in increasing diversity of the employee base in alignment with strategic objectives of the business. Leading the DEI strategy, initiatives, and team, this position will work closely with the ELT, global PX partners and business leaders to create short-, medium- and long-term DEI objectives, prioritizing areas for specific focus to align with the company’s DEI objectives. In addition, this position will ensure DEI initiatives, experiences and educational resources reflect and drive Deckers strategic priorities, culture, & DEI objectives, preparing both current and emerging leaders to successfully navigate a continuously evolving landscape. Ultimately, this role will envision and lead the design of a comprehensive, global DEI strategy intended to foster a more inclusive and diverse workplace that will ultimately drive increased employee engagement and innovation.

Your Impact

The primary functions of this role, include but are not limited to:

  • Strategy Development
    • Design and create vision, philosophy, strategy and programs to increase inclusion across Deckers, ensure alignment with Deckers core values, and help foster a culture where employees can Come as They Are.
    • Act as advisor to CAO, CEO and Executive Leadership Team
  • Program Management
    • Lead development, implementation and expansion of DEI programming and initiatives.
    • Oversee development and management of ERGs
    • Develop metrics to measure the effectiveness of DEI initiatives as tracked over time.
  • People Development
    • Identify training opportunities and lead creation and development of courses and workshops to increase awareness of the value of diversity in the workplace, the removal of bias, and the importance of an inclusive culture.
    • Act as key strategic partner and subject matter expert to business leaders on DEI-related topics and foster partnerships to amplify knowledge about DEI-related topics. Provide coaching and workshops to leaders to enhance ability to act as inclusive leaders and allies.
  • External Relations
    • Stay abreast of best practices, external partnership opportunities, technology, and tools to complement and inform Deckers’ DEI initiatives.
    • Represent Deckers externally as a thought leader and influencer in the DEI space, including participation in forums, panels, workshops, events and press opportunities.

We’d love to hear from people with

  • At least ten years of experience in direct ownership or significant contributions in the DEI space.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience press releases and internal/external communications, presentations, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience creating a vision, translating it into executable strategy, and leading cross-functional teams to deliver in alignment with articulated DEI strategy.
  • Experience creating and delivering strategic recommendations to leaders based on data-driven conclusions.
  • Demonstrated track record for progressing DEI initiatives.
  • Established experience in assisting and growing ERGs and employee engagement.

$190,000 - $200,000

The salary range posted reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this role in our Goleta, CA location. Individual pay will be determined by location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
