Lead Content Strategist

This position is dedicated to writing and editing, iterating on visual storytelling assets, creating content strategy and publishing content on our external and internal channels.

The person in this role will be a master dot-connector and an astute storyteller, with an ability to identify and implement themes across a variety of channels, tailored to various audiences. This experienced content creator and strategist has a passion for purposeful, authentic and evergreen storytelling.

They will partner across the Communications Content Team to develop a cohesive corporate content strategy and narratives, as well as writing and editing across a variety of subjects and for many formats — including articles, social posts, websites, videos, white papers and newsletters. The person in this role will work with stakeholders across the company to identify themes, story arcs and opportunities for content creation across the Content Team. They will have experience using content performance results and insights to inform strategy, yield more meaningful content and increase engagement across our corporate channels.

Candidates with a journalism, video storytelling, or writing and editing background are strongly preferred. They must also have the diplomatic skills to identify opportunities for improvement in other people’s content as well as the humility to accept edits from others. The ideal candidate will also be comfortable creating content for different audiences under quick, turnaround deadlines. From time to time, the person in this role will be required to produce early morning, night and weekend work as assigned. The person in this role will be a member of the Communications Content Team, reporting to the Head of the Content Strategy and Innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Create content for multiple formats (e.g. long-form features, thought leadership pieces, blogs, reports, social posts, website copy, voiceover scripting and newsletters)
  • Develop thoughtful and inspiring video storytelling narratives for people-centric and authentic content
  • Support creation of measurement framework across Content Studio and drive actionable insights through content programs
  • Strong copyediting and editing skills: Can take rough copy from employee contributors or stakeholders and rewrite/shape into cohesive, compelling narrative
  • Identify and pitch potential storytelling opportunities in our corporate communications materials and channels
  • Experience writing in a corporate tone; ghostwriting for executives and with AP Style is a plus
  • Use content and channel analytics and data to help inform overall strategy and content direction
  • Run all corporate approvals as needed for content, and manage key external and internal stakeholder partnerships to develop tailored content for owned corporate channels
  • Other duties as assigned

Key Skills And Qualifications

  • Exceptionally strong writer, editor and storyteller
  • Journalism background/experience with newspaper, magazine, blog or corporate publication strongly preferred
  • Highly organized, process oriented and project-management driven
  • Superb verbal, written, storytelling and editing skills, including driving engaging and consistent messaging across global communications channels, both internally and externally
  • Energized, creative, proactive and enthusiastic — willing to take initiative with confidence, detailed follow through
  • Flexible, agile, and quick worker and writer; fast ramp-up time will be essential
  • Proven experience of building and maintaining positive and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong content creation skills: creative, visual and editorial point of view
  • Tech savvy. Familiarity with tech writing and editing, as well as knowledge of digital content best practices and implementation (e.g. CMS)
  • Able to harness new media effectively with a keen understanding of all types of owned and earned media/channels, including a working knowledge of social platforms
  • Demonstrated success collaborating and influencing diverse business partners in a highly matrixed organization
  • A strong team player, who thrives in a collaborative setting and works well within a global, matrixed environment
  • Minimum -10 years professional experience
