Purpose of the role
The Senior Creative Strategist for BBC StoryWorks Americas will collaborate across BBC Global News Ltd.’s editorial, sales, and product development teams to create unique, multi-platform content programs aligning with all BBC.com brands, for clients across the US, Canada, and Latin America. The ideal candidate has a strong editorial mindset, passion for uncovering innovative digital storytelling products and platforms, and a solid understanding of digital advertising and the RFP process.
Role Responsibility
- Develop new ideas for custom content programs that will bring in new commercial partners as well as drive repeat business for BBC Global News Ltd.
- Craft content strategy briefs and pitch decks designed to clearly articulate the creative vision of our content programs to partners, both in response to RFPs and as proactive pitches.
- Strategize with BBC News editorial teams to build out new sponsorship opportunities for advertising partners.
- Partner with Project Management team to develop scalable program plans, budgets, and schedules that will maximize the success of new content ideas.
- Conduct strategic analysis of the competitive digital media landscape and leverage learnings to further differentiate BBC StoryWorks offerings in the Americas.
- Assist in the development and growth of more junior team members through brainstorming, proposal feedback, industry best practices and more.
- Assist in ongoing creation of materials such as case studies, talent lists, third party resources, and other tools used throughout our process.
Relationships
- Work closely with the rest of the North America StoryWorks creative strategy team, which includes team members in the US and Canada, on brainstorms, pitches, RFP responses, presentations and other content-related partnership opportunities
- Collaborate with research team to inform our content strategy approach and ensure our programs deliver on the KPIs that matter most to our partners.
- Work closely with ad sales counterparts to devise content strategies that fit client campaign goals and objectives
- Closely work with the editorial team on pitches and sponsorships, helping to ensure the BBC’s high editorial standards and editorial independence
- Collaborate with BBC StoryWorks global counterparts (including London, Singapore, and Australia) to share best practices and key learnings from content campaigns delivered around the world.
- Work with other teams, such as marketing, ad operations, third party companies (production, writers, etc) where needed

Knowledge & Skills
- A strong understanding of the following:
- Digital media landscape
- Digital RFP process
- Innovative digital storytelling products and platforms (AR, VR, Voice UI, etc.)
- Social media distribution tactics
- An ability to write and ideate quickly in a high-pressure environment
- Excellent time management, allowing you to balance multiple projects in various stages of production at once
- A flair for helping teach junior team members various tips and tricks of the trade, from deck-building to storytelling to RFPs and client management
- An understanding and respect for the value that independent news and editorial brings to the world
Professional Experience
- 4-7+ years in the workforce. Experience at a digital publisher, branded content studio or ad agency is a plus
- Understanding of branded content and the role it can play in advertiser campaigns
- Experience and/or educational focus in marketing, brand strategy, creative writing/English, or journalism a plus
- Experience with article, video, or interactive execution production is a plus, but not required
- Experience with TV or event marketing is a plus, but not required

- The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $65k to $85k. This range does not include bonus compensation or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and geographic location of the position.
