The innovative Brand Strategy team will work together to develop the strategies that we bring to our brands leveraging our diverse members, as well as proactively driving brand strategy. They will create the innovative products we bring to the market as well as shape the Group Black global brand.

The Role:

Group Black is looking for a Senior Vice President, Brand Strategy to join our pre-sales strategy team. This team works closely across all internal functions to create custom partnership solutions for our clients and is responsible for owning the ideation and creative program development process. The SVP will be a key member of the leadership team and will work to create compelling programs based on client briefs, proactive ideas, data, and insights, with the goal of generating revenue for the company.

The SVP has a growth mindset that is obsessed with driving our impact while demonstrating the ability to think analytically and make data-driven decisions. You'll be expected to anticipate client challenges, coordinate solutions for those challenges, and manage and develop the internal and external relationships necessary to increase our value and the reputation of Group Black. Reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer and Co-founder, you will own product-led programs that combine industry-leading ideas with Group Black media assets to engage audiences and drive results for our advertising partners.

The ideal candidate will be a confident, versatile storyteller who is adaptable and innovative, with a handle on the rapidly evolving media and marketing industry and is naturally collaborative and proactive. You have the exceptional ability to develop creative, culturally relevant programs and articulate opportunities for key clients.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Partner with our Chief Strategy Officer to provide strategic recommendations to Group Black advertisers incorporating the full suite of Group Black offerings including digital media, CTV, content creation, event activations, influencer programs, social campaigns, print, and more
  • Lead and develop a high-performing Brand Strategy team. Ensure that the Brand Strategy organization can attract, recruit and retain superior talent
  • Collaborate with Revenue and Operations leaders to ensure that plans are developed and implemented to address performance issues
  • Conduct brainstorms and conceptualize innovative, digestible cross-platform marketing solutions for a variety of advertisers that communicate how our platforms (media, content, event activations, talent alignment, social media, etc.) will work in concert to support client objectives
  • Identify content-driven opportunities that will serve as compelling thought-starters for client conversations
  • Liaise with strategy and insights to drive strong rationale for all proposals
  • Balance cross-functional P&Ls/production costs to ensure maximum creativity and Group Black revenue
  • Ongoing collaboration across the company to align on strong culturally relevant ideas and out-of-the-box program elements
  • Help to further refine Group Black offerings, uncover new products and tailor initiatives around multicultural themes and experiences
  • Develop relationships with third-party organizations and vendors to enhance the arsenal of integrated marketing offerings for categories

What you bring to the team:

  • 10+ years experience in media, brand marketing/strategy, and providing integrated solutions to brand marketers
  • Passion for multicultural marketing, economic empowerment, supporting minority-owned media businesses and creators, DEI
  • Knowledgeable about cultural moments across music, fashion, sports, entertainment, tech, travel, and community
  • Bachelor's or Masters's degree in a related field
  • Experience managing teams
  • Extensive knowledge of revenue opportunities within the global media landscape and ability to identify opportunities in new markets
  • Commitment to and demonstrable success of driving diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver deadlines
  • Excellent organizational/time management skills and leadership ability
  • Proficient in building client presentations using Google Suite Apps plus Keynote / PowerPoint / Excel
  • Team-oriented – flexible, helpful, and able to work well with others
  • Solution-oriented – proactive problem solver, quick learner, and strategic thinker
  • Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a fast-paced work environment

At Group Black we believe in leveraging our hiring process as a way to support transparency. The annual base salary band for this opportunity is $250,000 - $275,000. Our job offer compensation philosophy, which impacts actual compensation, is based on a number of important factors including, but not limited to, internal and market equity, financial budgets, and the individual’s skills, qualifications, experience, and education. Published annual base salary bands do not include individual variable compensation opportunities, such as annual merit increases, bonus eligibility, commission, or equity incentives.
