Working independently, the Senior Manager Operations Excellence will act as a force-multiplier and change agent for the Vice President of Manufacturing. As a member of the Manufacturing Leadership Team, this person will be a strategic utility leader working cross-functionally to ensure success of the manufacturing strategy. This high-value creator will play a meaningful role in providing broad business support within the manufacturing organization. Employees in this position may interact with their leader when needed, to receive guidance and feedback. Some non-routine activities may require their leader’s advance approval, but routine decisions within the general scope of the role may be made independently.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Drives the Manufacturing Strategy by coordinating cross-functional goals and collaborating with a wide range of internal partners to ensure the successful and timely execution of strategic initiatives.
- Leads overarching strategic direction, coaching and leadership on the implementation of Operational Excellence efforts throughout the King’s Hawaiian manufacturing operations.
- Leads the strategy development and deployment of transformational lean initiatives through continuous improvement methodologies, while developing a culture of continuous improvement.
- Designs, develops and implements standards, frameworks and programs to support the delivery of Manufacturing Excellence strategies and initiatives.
- Participates in identification and planning of departmental goals, metrics and budgets; including ensuring that priorities are measured and constantly improving.
- Leads complex, high-impact projects across multiple functions.
- Provides business analysis, change management and project management in support of business initiatives.
- Partners with functional leaders to establish and refine key metrics in Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost and Delivery.
- Participates in operations, innovation and technology strategic planning to ensure new product development and manufacturing process changes are being optimized and designed for manufacturability.
- Builds strategic partnerships across the business, providing guidance, input and influence where necessary.
- Leads other special Manufacturing projects of strategic importance.
- Acts as interim leader for other Manufacturing functions when needed.
- Identifies and leverages high-impact best practices, including internal and external benchmarks.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of this role.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE)
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain or Business Administration from an accredited 4-year college or equivalent relevant experience required; Master’s or MBA preferred.
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in Manufacturing or Supply Chain required.
- Manufacturing experience to include line responsibility and experience with the main manufacturing functions.
Additional Qualifications (job Skills, Abilities, Knowledge)
- Expert in lean transformation strategies with a broad cross-functional background and demonstrated success in driving improvements across multiple business processes.
- Proficient in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma and/or TPM.
- Significant experience in enterprise-wide lean manufacturing implementation with demonstrated positive impact to the organization.
- Demonstrated leadership capability in team settings with experience in leading cross-functional projects and organizational change.
- Strong project management skills and demonstrated ability for managing multiple projects in parallel and/or managing large programs of work.
- Proficient understanding of Engineering, Manufacturing Processes, Project Management, Lean Principles, and Financial acumen.
- Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement certification(s) desired.
- Strong ability to manage cross-functionally with direct and indirect influence.
- Passion and enthusiasm for driving improvement and leading change.
- Excellent communication skills, with a strong ability to interface and influence at all levels of the organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
