- Knowledge of best practices in social media, content strategy, accessibility, and familiarity with current web trends and tools.
- Proficiency with media production tools such as DSLR and smartphone cameras, microphones, and video cameras.
- Knowledge of graphic design fundamentals and familiarity with design software such as Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator within the Adobe Creative Suite, Canva and editing software.
- Experience with content management systems such as WordPress.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team, and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, respond quickly and with flexibility to changing conditions, and see a project through from conceptualization to completion with a solid track record of meeting deadlines.

As a Digital Communications Specialist & Social Media Manager you will:
- Develop, execute, and continuously refine the social media strategy for the school and manage the day-to-day content calendars, including monitoring and posting to the school's flagship social media channels (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn).
- Collaborate with colleagues throughout Harvard Law School, and within Harvard University, on social media best practices, the latest trends, and lead internal social media working groups.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on social media effectiveness through Google Analytics and social media analytics, translate data-driven insights into content recommendations, and work in partnership with the larger digital team to develop ways to increase web and social media traffic and engagement.
- Partner with the Digital and Multimedia Content Specialist and others to identify digital content and storytelling opportunities, and help plan and produce compelling audio, video, photography, graphic elements, and written content for the school's website, social media channels, and news stories.
- Promote Harvard Law School and its faculty, programs, clinics, and events through social media channels to generate traffic and awareness.
- Help develop creative ways to meet school-wide communications and marketing objectives and engage the school's diverse audiences.
- Stay up to date with the latest media techniques and production technologies, and help maintain the highest standards of multimedia and digital content accessibility and universal design.
- Take photos and write, edit, and post content to the Harvard Law School website using WordPress content management system as needed.

As an integral member of Harvard Law School's Office of Communications, the Digital Communications Specialist & Social Media Manager is responsible for managing the law school's flagship social media accounts, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, with the goal of increasing the visibility and understanding of the Law School's mission and impact.
We are looking for candidates who possess strong communication, writing, digital content creation, project management skills, and a high degree of initiative, creativity, flexibility, and self-direction. Organizational skills, professionalism, good judgment, and the ability to multi-task and work collaboratively in support of shared objectives are also critical to the success of this role. This role will generate content for social media channels and track analytics to inform future strategic direction.
The Office of Communications at Harvard Law School performs a wide range of communications functions in support of HLS and its mission.
