Primary Purpose

This position is responsible for hiring, coaching, and developing our field marketers in delivering sound strategic and tactical marketing plans that resonate with their centers positioning in the market, are relevant to their community and to their target audiences all with the intention of driving incremental traffic. This regional leadership role also collaborates with various SBV/marketing business partners, property management, leasing, corporate PR, innovation, development, and other key stakeholders to support the corporation's short- and longer-term business objectives including driving overall market growth and profitability.

Principal Responsibilities

The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Influence the local marketing plan development for the centers within their region.
  • Work to ensure local marketing teams understand, support, and embrace corporate and regional strategies and objectives in the areas of business development, grassroots marketing, platform programs & signature events, media mix, digital marketing, growth of the VIP shopper databases, advancement of public relations, omnichannel efforts and innovative product launches.
  • Ensure budgetary support for all local, regional, and corporate strategies through allocating local marketing budget dollars to the key priorities of the marketing plan.
  • Maintain active relationships with leasing and development counterparts and ensure support, as required, and sharing of marketing results that assist them in meeting their objectives.
  • Collaborate with brand and digital teams on corporate programs, rollouts of new messaging and timely execution for regional and national goal achievement and digital media strategies.
  • Evaluate impact of tourism (domestic/regional/international) and apply funding, focus and leadership to strategies as applicable.
  • Actively use and coach on the use of proprietary research data to help further refine target markets and relevant marketing programs that resonate with audiences.
  • Ensure all field marketing communications, implementation guides, expectations and requirements are being reacted to, reinforced and advanced.
  • Hire, train, and coach on overall performance of field marketers during their tenure with Simon.
  • Ensure solid relationships are in place with PR agencies (crisis and proactive) and tracking of results against KPIs are in place and reported.
  • Oversee the rollout of the annual centers budget process, ensure appropriate reforecasting throughout the year, and help with any deficiencies by way of subsidy requests, reallocation of funding, use of CUMF or retooling of spend to balance budgets.
  • Monitor gift card goals and results and address any accounting, auditing, or fraud related issues at the property level in concert with giftcard team.
  • Facilitate communication and attend meetings with partner relations and with property partners, as required.
  • Ongoing communication, travel and collaboration with SVP Field Marketing, Marketing Operations, and Chief Marketing Officer to keep them continuously informed of strategies, results of marketing efforts, in-market shifts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA or BS degree with emphasis in marketing or business
  • 6-10 years previous experience in management of shopping center marketing or related marketing field
  • Multi-million-dollar financial budgeting and forecasting experience.
  • Substantial experience in comprehensive strategic planning, development of plan documents, pitches for funding
  • Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to use tact and diplomacy and to be persuasive when interacting with others.
  • Ability to respond effectively and efficiently under pressure.
  • Experience with all facets of public relations, agency support
  • Media flowchart knowledge, development and understanding of relevant media channels including digital marketing, influencer marketing.
  • Experience in brief writing, program development, and tactical implementation of programs
  • Experience in hiring, on-boarding, coaching up for enhanced performance of team.
  • Comfortable presenting and maintaining relationships and conversations at all levels in the organization including C-suite executives.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage attention to ensure quality work product and efforts.

  • Extensive travel (overnight)required
