Artist & Fan Content Creator (Project-based freelancer)

SoundCloud is looking for multiple experienced and dynamic Content Creators (freelance) to focus on content for our engagement with our Fan audience and with our Artists on and off-platform. In this role, the Content Creators (freelance) will have a unique opportunity to play a meaningful role in shaping the future of SoundCloud's engagement growth. They'll focus on one of the two audiences and be responsible for the customer journey through content, as well as overseeing the strategy and execution for how we promote content across platforms. This role will report to our Growth Marketing lead and will work closely with our creative studio, social, product marketing, music, brand marketing and growth marketing teams.

This is a month-to-month freelancer role that will report to our Growth Marketing lead.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and build content (including copywriting) for newsletters, platform pages e.g. new features and products to achieve business goals
  • Partner with our growth marketing team to create content for growth campaigns and to strategically promote content across paid channels, including email, push, search, and social
  • Build a content calendar and strategy to increase the discoverability of SoundCloud, while protecting the integrity of the Fan or Artist experience
  • Write and edit compelling marketing copy for our owned channels and email newsletter
  • Work closely with our creative studio and product marketing teams to create content that highlights our products and tools, putting them in a context that educates, inspires, and adds new value for artists and their teams or our fans
  • Translate product plans, roadmaps and strategies into key product marketing messages and communication.
  • Continuously measure, report on, and work to improve content performance - keeping it fresh, accessible, and timely.
  • Produce a wide range of content types, including blogs, case studies, emails, ebooks, infographics, social ads, website/landing page copy, sales collateral, videos, webinars, and other relevant content types to support prospect and customer marketing.
  • Play a key role in building content / digital media plans and assets across different functions of Growth Marketing, Music Marketing, and on-platform Editorial
  • Develop content with strategic seasonality trends and target audience in mind.
  • Identify key drivers across all tactics to optimize language, tone and message for future programs.
  • Proven track record of building impactful, creative content-driven campaigns that connect with audiences and break through the cultural zeitgeist
  • Translate product plans, roadmaps and strategies into key product marketing messages and communication.
  • Write thoughtful, compelling marketing content to grow the Devpost brand and support every stage of the customer journey, targeting key personas to engage, educate, and inspire buyers.
  • Manage the copy development of digital assets, including mobile, display, and video.
  • Collaborate with Music team to build extraordinary artist / music marketing campaigns
  • Develop content briefs working together with a Senior Producer to creative, social, and product teams required to execute against optimization plans.

Experience and Background:

  • You have experience in content marketing for a music production company or publication with a music focus and can demonstrate strong written communication skills in English
  • You have excellent attention to detail and organization skills
  • You know content isn't just for brand awareness – you see content as a strategic lever to drive business results, and you know it can be done because you've done it yourself
  • You're fluent in all forms of marketing, including SEO, SEM, paid social, product, and brand marketing, and you know how to look at the big picture and influence marketing efforts with content across the board
  • You can create written content that not only tells impactful stories, but also adds new value for your target audience and drives impact for the business. Writing for video and audio creation is a strong plus.
  • You can clearly communicate complex technical concepts and speak to a variety of audiences, ranging from artists to marketers, with authenticity, personality, and empathy
  • Obsessed over driving and measuring impact across the content you create
  • Love music and have a deep knowledge across music genres and global music trends
  • You understand the artist and/or creator's career journey and/or have an intimate connection with music fans. Music industry experience is a plus.
