Your Role At Sephora
As the External Communications Manager you will support the development and execution of our earned communications strategies for our consumer facing initiatives, including but not limited to our campaigns, category & product initiatives (i.e., Clean, Wellness, Hair, Holiday), experiential events, client services and Sephora Collection. Additionally, the External Communications manager will oversee the Sephora Beauty Directors, including annual and personal programming development which includes cross functional collaboration with Social Marketing and 3rd party brands. Reporting to the Vice President of Public Relations, the programming management and strategy this role provides ladders into the company goals of driving business and consumer awareness, elevating brand reputation and sales, ultimately keeping Sephora competitive and beloved by all. In addition, you will:
- Support the VP of Public Relations in strategy, planning and execution of Comms tactics supporting the key messaging objectives to maximize earned media coverage and grow retailer sentiment.
- Plan and manage the overall engagements for brand spokespeople including but not limited to executives and Beauty Directors.
- In partnership with the VP, help lead day-to-day management of the US public relations agencies, providing direction and overseeing execution of press outreach and activities for company and brand initiatives.
- Liaise with cross functional teams in Marketing, Social, Retailer Ops consistently to evaluate, plan and coordinate upcoming program focuses, outputs and relevant updates.
- Help coordinate and execute relevant cross functional, monthly, and quarterly reporting.
- In partnership with the supporting agency, lead consumer engagement tactics and strategies for Consumer Comms as it relates to critical audience growth (i.e., BIPOC, Gen Z and Alpha consumers).
- Lead contact for LVMH Media, including managing LVMH extranet, VOICES and DMR reporting.
- Maintain composure, problem solve, and partner with both internal and external groups to ensure the retailer and brand is represented according to our values in all situations.
- Oversee the management of the Public Relations budget, calendar, and marketing task list with ease.
What we are looking for and believe you need as a candidate:
- 6+ years public relations experience, in-house or agency
- Experience preferred in multiple communications realms, including but not limited to beauty, consumer goods, corporate social responsibility, sustainability, and technology. B 2 C experience required.
- Experience in all realms of media, including new media including but not limited to managing influencer strategies and relationships
- Expertise in advising senior leadership through various corporate, customer service and social media issues
- Excellent communication skills (written, oral, and interpersonal), with a keen understanding of press relations and how to balance messaging and company priorities as a spokesperson
- Strong presentation capabilities, can communicate upward and laterally, informing partners well and with ease
- Strong critical thinking capabilities and ability to partner with other groups
- Effective organizational and time management skills, can juggle many projects at once
- Independent thinker, values the capabilities and work quality of a team, has a strong understanding of internal and external clients and needs/priorities
- Self-starter, action-oriented, resourceful, can take a project or program from start to completion
- Charisma, thinks on the fly, can balance personality and professional perspective with business objectives and priorities
- Thrives in an environment with a large amount of public exposure and a diverse range of personalities and opinions
- Enjoys being a team leader, with emphasis on development and career pathing for direct reports, including being able to have critical conversations
- University degree

- Understanding of retail cosmetics and passion for beauty and client experience
- Elevated computer and social media skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); Experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Dreamweaver
- Flexibility and ability to take and incorporate feedback from a variety of stakeholders
- Ability to work independently as well as with a team
- Fluent speaker and writer in English, Spanish and French

The annual base salary range for this position is $112,000.00 - $125,000.00 The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job. Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.
