About The Team
This role is within the Communications and Marketing team but will be working very closely and exclusively with the BigFuture team.
The Communications and Marketing team is responsible for building and protecting the College Board reputation, overseeing organization's communications efforts, and growing the organization’s three highest priority areas: AP, SAT Suite, and BigFuture, which are designed to increase educational access and opportunity for all students. We are a close knit, dedicated team with a track record of success in promoting the work of the College Board to a variety of audiences, including students, parents, educators, policymakers, the media, member organizations and staff.
The BigFuture team is committed to supporting all students to make the right first step post high school. BigFuture reaches over 7M students each year and is the leading free resource for College, Scholarship, and Career Exploration. BigFuture allows students to demystify the college going process, unlock options to afford college, and explore careers that connect to their skills and interests. In addition to the student facing platform, the team manages a service that fosters rich interactions between students and the over 1,500 Higher Education institutions. These institutions look across the 25,000 high schools to round out their classes and reach a broad student population.
About The Opportunity
As a content creator, you’ll use your creativity, writing, and storytelling abilities to engage students on BigFuture as they learn about planning for college, paying for college, and exploring careers. You will be responsible for writing, creating, and producing high-quality content for a wide variety of marketing and communication channels including web, apps, video, email, social media, and more, with a high degree of literacy and understanding of your audience as well as SEO principles and techniques. Your content will help make an impact on our students by helping them discover and understand how to achieve their desired path for life after high school. You will focus on content about exploring career paths and majors and that helps promote our virtual events.
In This Role, You Will
Strategy and Communication (20%):
- Work to understand and achieve ambitious goals including driving traffic and deeper engagement on BigFuture
- Build content plans based on strategy, research, and cross-team collaboration
- Research and learn about exciting updates and trends across a wide range of career paths and potential majors to feature on the site
- Conduct content reviews and revision cycles to understand and incorporate feedback from stakeholders across marketing, product, legal, and other functions; iterate and modify copy to effectively incorporate all feedback while upholding high standards of content, brand, and SEO quality and consistency
- Review event footage, identify compelling clips, and embed them into the BigFuture website or create videos for future event promotion
Production and Implementation (60%):
- Develop high-value and high-quality content to entice, educate, and engage high school students with the tools and resources on BigFuture (Explore Careers and Communities/Events)
- Infuse SEO best practices and strategies into all digital content to optimize discoverability and effectiveness
- Collaborate with external partners to bring in additional expertise on key topics that drive traffic
- Work with agencies to create compelling, short form videos to embed within our site and apps
- Work in close collaboration with project managers, designers, channel/SEO experts, and other functions to fulfill content requests and deadlines for execution across all applicable marketing, communication, and product channels
- Collaborate with the product team to produce and publish content to the site using CMS and other web production tools
Performance Tracking and Optimization (20%)
- Review web analytics regularly to better understand how new content is changing behavior
- Maintain a curious and creative perspective on marketing and communication approaches, continuously learning and generating ideas on how create innovative content to attract Gen Z and their parents
- Deliver clear, consistent, and error-free content that reflects BigFuture’s voice and brand standards
About You
- Experience in marketing and/or communications with a minimum of 2-4 years writing digital content, preferably for younger audiences
- Strong content strategy and copywriting abilities, ideally for a younger audience or promoting events
- Creative concepting skills and abilities to do idea generation and storyboarding
- Ability to produce video content and collaborate with agency partners
- Experience crafting creative content across the spectrum, from concepts such as headlines and taglines to in-depth/long-form writing
- Strong experience and knowledge of SEO and the ability to strategically incorporate SEO best practices into all digital copy
- Understanding marketing analytics tools that help measure performance and gather insights
- Ability to balance multiple tasks for several projects at the same time, often on short timelines
- Experience writing content for desktop, mobile, and other apps and channels with an understanding of basic usability principles
- Familiarity with web production, CMS systems, JIRA, and Drupal a plus
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in marketing communication, journalism, or a related field
- A passion for supporting educational and career opportunities for millions of students
- Willingness to travel 2-3 times per year or <10% for in-person meetings/gatherings

The salary range for a new employee in this position is $56,000-$95,000 The salary offer of an individual candidate within this range is specific to their location and qualifications.
