Director, Business Development

Partners with the Managing Director on the development and execution of the McKinney Marketing plan to generate awareness and opportunities for the agency. This is a centralized role bringing consistency and impact to all marketing activities.
The role of marketing at the agency continues to evolve and priority is being placed on new and out-of-the-box thinking to promote McKinney and reach prospects. Over the last 12 months, the marketing department has had tremendous success employing never before used tactics at McKinney, and seldom used across our industry as a whole. We now have a proven set of marketing tools that can be leveraged across our different channels but require a passionate leader with the skills to drive strategy and execution.
In 2022 and beyond, agency marketing will continue to push the boundaries of our channel marketing efforts, as well as take on new responsibilities previously managed by other departments. Specifically, and in addition to the responsibilities born from the department’s strategic evolution, marketing is (1) assuming management of McKinney’s owned channels (social and .com) and (2) taking on ownership of the PR agency relationship.

The Director, Business Development Partners with the Managing Director on the development and execution of the McKinney Marketing plan to generate awareness and opportunities for the McKinney brand.
He or she directs the execution of prospecting efforts across all four offices and multiple key disciplines (Media, Influencer, Health, CYLNDR). The role is cross-functional and works with multiple departments including account management, media, and agency communications, leading deployment of outbound marketing efforts. He or she is responsible for developing and enhancing system and structure for campaign strategy including authoring campaign briefs, identifying appropriate tools and engagement tactics. Leads 3-month prospecting planning cycle strategy and partners with MDs in each office to identify categories and brands for both 1:1 and Mass Outreach. Sets agenda for bi-weekly (monthly), intra-office strategy meetings with prospecting teams. Is authority for applying best practices for email campaign efforts. Accountable for delivering category, brand, and KDM background and personality research used to inform weekly outreach. Partner with agency communications to amplify events which include aligning outreach programs with editorial calendars. Authors and contributes to development of templates, landing pages and new engagement approaches. Oversees CRM database management. Provides event measurement and ROI reporting
Cultivate an environment of learning and development to help the Business Development Coordinator help them discover their untapped potential. This includes providing collaboration, guidance, historical input for B2B content development and RFI development

Responsibilities:
Agency Marketing
- Partners with the Managing Director in the development of annual, long, and short-term marketing strategy, plans, and content calendars.
- Accountable for managing a variety of marketing initiatives on channels with messaging that drives brand awareness and purchase intent, including:
- Owned Channels
- SEM
- PR
- Paid Media
- Email marketing
- Events (e.g. CMO dinners, on-stage events )
- Influencers
- Partnerships (e.g. ANA, Local Ad Clubs)
- Vertical marketing (e.g. F&B, Health & Wellness)
- Lead cross-functional teams (PR, Media, Vertical, SMEs, P&E, EDIB) to build innovative engagement strategies and create relevant content that generate awareness and interest in McKinney’s new business, attract talent and reinforce the McKinney brand with current employees.
- Ensure successful and on-time execution and integration of marketing initiatives across all channels by leading weekly marketing. This includes working closely with the CEO’s Chief of Staff, and agency PR partner.
- Monitor marketing performance and submit performance reports to key MD and other key stakeholders
- Accountable for utilization plan for Hubspot CRM to ensure system’s capabilities are maximized and relevant data is continually captured and analyzed
- Accountable for day-to-day relationship with Powell ensuring strategic engagement plans for outbound efforts are developed and executed
Consultants
- Currently has relationships with key advertising search consultants or has the ability to build relationships quickly..
Prospecting
- Leverages business strategy to build one to one relationships with prospects (and in some cases partners)
- Transitions qualified leads to SMEs
- Manages the marketing budget, through accurate tracking and forecasting of marketing spend
Leadership
- Leads and manages Marketing & Business Development Coordinator, helping each to discover and unleash their potential
