Job Description and Duties:

Under the general direction of the Chief, Engagement & Retention Marketing and Staff Services Manager-II of Digital Properties, with the lead of a Staff Services Manager I, the Social Media Specialist (Marketing Analyst II) is responsible for the planning, development, execution, and analysis of content on Lottery's designated social media platforms which include but are not limited to: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Snapchat. This role is fast paced with a high volume of work. The expectation of this position is an established subject matter expert in all aspects of social media marketing (paid, organic, and influencer, etc) and ability to constantly learn new social media trends, paid social opportunities, and social media best practices. The position is critical to ensuring that the Lottery provides an exceptional experience at all stakeholder touch points that motivate consumers to play Lottery games, build understanding of our mission, increase engagement and loyalty with the Lottery brand, and drive sales in order to generate supplemental funding for public education.

Important Things to Note:

-This position requires completing a current Marketing Analyst II exam. If you need to take the exam or if your score has expired, you will need to gain list eligibility.

-The Lottery is currently operating under an Emergency Telework Program while a permanent Telework Program is finalized. Depending on the start date for this position, this position may start as 100% remote; however, the location requirement may change and in-person presence at the Lottery’s headquarters in Sacramento may be required once the Permanent Telework Program is in place.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably with a specialization in marketing, communications, or related field.
  • At least two years of experience performing marketing duties involving email marketing strategies, content management systems, and/or social media platforms.
  • Working knowledge of audience segmentation, A/B testing, tracking and analysis of email performance, content development, graphic design and copy writing esthetics, and/or community management, customer service, and social engagement.
  • Proficiency with enterprise-level CRM platforms and/or content management systems such as SiteCore and WordPress, in addition to basic Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; experience collaborating with a team to achieve group milestones.
  • Ability to review and interpret data and analytical information and translate it into actionable business results and recommendations.
  • Have a customer-centric marketing mind set, with keen graphic design and copy writing knowledge.
  • Self-motivated, curious, and passionate about marketing.
  • Bilingual skills are highly desirable, but not required.
