Who you are: You are a creative and experienced videographer with an eye for storytelling and an ear for music. You can create branded and engaging digital videos from filming to post-production to uploading. You are organized and can juggle multiple projects and priorities at once. You will report to and work closely with the Sr Video Content Creator to develop original and exciting content for the On Demand music program to elevate the digital music medicine experience.
Essential Functions of the Jr. Video Content Creator:
- Operate camera, audio and lighting equipment to produce high-quality digital media for JoyRx-based programs with emphasis on live music performances, livestream concerts, and music lessons
- Edit JoyRx programs video content and create graphics and simple motion/animation using non-linear editing software.
- Refine audio content through sound mixing and audio post-production
- Upload, optimize, and publish videos for JoyRx.org, YouTube, YouTube Kids, Soundcloud and other digital channels that face kids and families served by the On Demand music program
- Assist with virtual administration of video content on the back end of JoyRx digital platforms
- Repurpose video content into multiple digital formats
- Follow standards and guidelines for consistent brand identity
- Manage video archives and digital assets
- Maintain audio/video equipment inventory
- Stay current on media production tools, video streaming platforms, and best practices
- Provide back-up photography as needed
- Project management responsibility
Qualifications and Skills:
- Creative thinker and innovator with an acute eye for engaging visual storytelling
- Familiar with wide variety of music genres and music industry’s social media landscape
- Strong knowledge in video capturing and editing skills
- Ability to record and edit coverage of concerts and events captured on multiple A/V sources at once
- Thorough understanding of basic camera functions (ISO, aperture, framerate, etc.) and their effects on the image
- Sharp eye for lighting and composition
- Deep understanding of how to manipulate a RAW image to achieve desired look of an edit
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while being proactive, motivated, dedicated, and able to take initiative
- Strong knowledge of YouTube, Vimeo, Soundcloud and other video platforms with basic understanding of SEO
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to troubleshoot, be solution-oriented and take direction
- Well organized; ability to manage multiple projects at a time; ability to work to strict deadlines
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in digital media, videography, journalism, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- At least two years’ experience in filming and editing experience required
- Experience in operating DSLRs, sound recording equipment, creative shot composition, and editing required
- Experience with Word Press a plus

Work Environment:

This position is based in the JoyRx Portland, OR office. JoyRx offers a hybrid office environment, with both onsite (professional open office environment) days and the ability to work remotely up to two days/week (Mondays & Fridays).

This position requires frequent operation of a computer and other office equipment, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. This position requires the ability to perform basic math and speak, hear, write, and read English. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some occasional lifting is required (up to 20 lbs).
Travel:
This position requires occasional travel to the Austin Metro area there may be limited travel to other key regions.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time (40 hours/week) non-exempt position. Some flexibility in hours is allowed; days and hours of work are generally Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am – 5:30 pm, and Friday 8:00 am –
12:00 pm, with the option to be remote Mondays and Fridays. This position requires occasional evening hours and weekend work.
