Marketing Manager, Copy & Communications

We are on a mission to empower a wellness approach to hair, manifesting modern day rituals stemming from rich culture that feed your hair from the roots and beyond. The company is founded and led by award-winning business professional and fellow Latina Babba Rivera and supported by top tier DTC, beauty, e-commerce and tech investors.
The Marketing Manager, Copy and Communications is responsible for delivering on copy strategy and execution for all branded initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a background in beauty, fashion, or related field — as well as deep experience in developing integrated communications campaigns cross functionally.
In this role, you will oversee the execution of all copy deliverables in tandem with the Director of Marketing, in addition to supporting Ceremonia’s public relations strategy in partnership with the external PR manager. You will understand the nuances of brand copy and tone, and creative story angles, while crafting copy campaigns that reflect the voice, style and tone of the brand and deliver on business needs.
Core Responsibilities
- Help develop and refine key brand and product messages while maintaining internal product and brand marketing tool kit copy (internal, external - including go to market decks, influencer briefs, affiliate and community campaign challenges and general evergreen messaging)
- Be a thought-partner to the Marketing Director on all things related to marketing collateral and messaging, leveraging data and creativity to inform decision-making and priorities and assisting in the development of campaign and product messaging hierarchy
- Partner with the Marketing Director to write all product and campaign copy materials as needed: act as bookkeeper + go-to person for all brand + product copy across all markets
- Help develop communication strategies across multiple platforms including social media, web, blogs, press releases, event collateral, product brochures, packaging briefs, emails and texts, educational content and more
- Collaborate with creative team on script development for new launches and campaigns, as well as appropriate storytelling and text overlay
- Assist in the development of partnership pitch decks and client meeting deck copy
- Own New Product Page set-up on ecomm site and assist with development of landing pages and all corresponding copy
- Help relaunch the Ceremonia Blog - delivering a new article weekly and optimizing for SEO, while partnering to contract monthly guest articles spotlighting Latinx talent
- Collaborate with Brand Marketing team on overall marketing goals and assist with ad hoc marketing initiatives as needed, including event support, PR campaigns, tracking, budget reporting, sampling partnerships, marketing send-outs, liaising with external agencies
requirements
- 4+ years of experience in professional copywriting and marketing; published works in beauty publications are a plus
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in journalism, English, communications, or related discipline
- Proofreading experience and familiarity with standard style guides
- Experience crafting creative briefs for digital and print deliverables
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines, highly organized, detail-oriented, and a problem solver
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment with high levels of flexibility and willingness to adapt to change
- Strong understanding and interest in brand media and cultural landscape, with the ability and desire to seek out new ideas and approaches
- First-hand knowledge of Latinx cultures (ability to communicate in Spanish/Spanglish is a huge plus)
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and be proactive
- Self-starter with can-do attitude - experience in a high growth start-up is preferred
- Basic knowledge of Shopify, Klaviyo, Google Analytics and Adobe Suite
- Must be based in New York
